NAWOJ Seeks NTA Channel 5’s Support To Amplify Women’s Voices

The Nigerian Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), FCT Chapter, on Thursday sought the support of the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) Channel 5 to amplify women’s voices at the grassroots level.

This initiative is in preparation for the upcoming International Women’s Day.

Bassey Ita-Ikpang, NAWOJ FCT Chairperson, stated that the partnership with the station’s management would strengthen initiatives aimed at advancing women’s rights and promoting meaningful representation in Nigerian society.

“NAWOJ has consistently championed critical issues affecting women, shedding light on challenges while advocating for policy reforms and enhanced representation,” she said.

According to her, the engagement with the TV station is a significant step towards reinforcing collaborative efforts that will empower women and foster progressive dialogue nationwide.

In response, Mr Paul Atte, General Manager of NTA Channel 5 Abuja, commended the visit and reiterated the station’s commitment to supporting NAWOJ’s endeavours.

“Women are at the core of building resilient homes, communities, and our nation.”

He emphasised the importance of collaborative partnerships in driving social change.

The discussions during the visit also touched on various pressing issues, setting the stage for future engagements aimed at uniting stakeholders in the pursuit of sustainable progress and national development.(NAN)
