Dickson granting interview to journalists shortly after coming out of prison.

Kaduna (Nigeria) — Nigerian authorities have released a detained journalist Jacob Dickson on bail.

Two hundred thousand Naira (about 1000 USD) was paid to secure his release, while he awaits re-appearing in court on 12th of May.
Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, Kaduna State Council while thanking government for granting the bail, condemned the process of hurriedly sending the journalist to prison custody.
“If anything, government should have asked us to sanction our members.
“This is one of the hazards of journalism” he told AFRICA PRIME NEWS
Dickson was arrested for a story he wrote which the police said was ‘inciting’.
In the said story, Dickson mentioned that Governor Nasiru El-Rufai of Kaduna State was pelted when he visited a community to mediate among rival groups that fought.
