Plateau Partners Bulgaria to Improve Agriculture, ICT

Plateau Government says it has established partnership with the Republic of Bulgaria to improve its agriculture and education sector, Information and Communications Technology (ICT), as well as infrastructural development in the state.

This is contained in a statement by Mr Gyang Bere, the Director of Press and Public Affairs (DOPPA) to Gov. Caleb Mutfwang of the state.

Bere said that the bilateral relationship was ratified when the Bulgarian Ambassador to Nigeria, Yankovic Yordanov, visited Mutfwang at the Plateau government lodge in Abuja.

He said that the partnership would also cover areas of technical education and scholarship opportunities for the staff of Plateau University, Bokkos, in order to improve the quality of teaching and learning in the institution.

The media aide quoted the governor as saying that the collaboration would help in upgrading the state university to a reputable citadel of knowledge, adding that it would also boost the dwindling economic situation of the state.

He said that Mutfwang, who described Plateau as a state endowed with good weather condition for the cultivation of various crops, explained that the partnership would be beneficial to both parties.

“We want to open up the space as much as possible to direct foreign investment.

”We will be glad to have Bulgarian Companies that will come on board to do business in Plateau.

”I am sure that this partnership will be a win-win situation,” Bere quoted the governor.

Earlier in his remarks,the ambassador said that the visit was to seek partnership with Plateau in the area of agricultural development and other critical sectors of the economy

He noted that a lot of Bulgarians were cuttently residing in Jos, the capital of Plateau, hence the need for the partnership in other to revamp the economy of the state.

Yordanov also said that a delegation from his country would visit Nigeria in October to meet with the Plateau Chamber of Commerce, toward improving small scale businesses in the state.
