Governor Umar Namadi of jigawa state, Northwest Nigeria, has solicited the support of working journalists in reporting the State objectively in line with their code of ethics.
The Governor made the call when members of the State Correspondents Chapel paid him a courtesy visit at Government House Dutse.
Malam Namadi noted that, Journalists are key stakeholders in promoting good governance, peace, unity and progress of the society through good reportage.
” Our plea to you is for you to be objective and balance in your reportage, as well as promotion of Jigawa corporate existence peace and progress above any interest, to join our hands collectively in our quest for building a prosperous and Greater Jigawa”
” Please report us accordingly, avoid promotion of sensational and half baked reports, since if you write unbalanced story you cannot sleep well as your conscience will not allow you for doing wrong job” Governor Namadi warns”
Responding, the Chairman of the Correspondents Chapel, Comrade Muhammad Zangina said, members of the Chapel were at government House to congratulate the Governor for the successful innauguration as the fifth civilian Governor of Jigawa State.
Comrade Zangina told the Governor that, working journalists in the state would join hand’s with the government to promote peace unity and progress of the state.
He assured the Governor that, members of the union would be more professional in their reportage and also prioritize the collective interest of the state above any consideration.
