PDP Apologist Or Tangale Intelligentsia? By Luka Elkana

Date:

The first question that has been ringing in my mind ever since people began expressing genuine interest in Hon. Mailantarki’s candidature is the vast horde of naysayers whose interest in the votes he is likely to get leading to his triumph at the polls come March 11, 2023.

I am talking about no other people than the supporters of the PDP candidate. They have found a way of tricking themselves to believe that the only votes they need to win the elections can only come from the supporters of NNPP who, they believe, are unsmart people who are merely trying to waste their votes.

One of such group of people are now masking under the faceless Tangale Intelligentsia Movement otherwise known as TIM. Who does not know that Benjamin Dangoma is a member of the PDP campaign Council in Billiri Local Government? What do you expect but a skewed analysis of event in the field devoid of any iota of truth and realism? The first question I have for this gistlover group is why they hide behind the shadows. Secondly, who appointed them to be the spokesman of our people? And why do they think they know better than the hardworking people who earnestly believe that Mailantarki is the answer to the question of the next 4 years?

If one puts two and two together, it will not be hard to deduce who the sole individual behind the mask is. Riddle me this; who is a known political writer for hire who has written open letters in the past and gotten into trouble for it? Simply because the highest bidder has oiled his pen, he now has the temerity to tell us about such things as a winning basket’ and ‘unity’ when in actuality the only winning basket here is his pocket which has been united with PDP funds.

If Mr. Tangale Intelligentsia Movement is truly concerned about the Mai injustice as stated in his letter, why is he supporting a candidate that openly showed his support to the governor’s Mai even when he didn’t have to?

His allusion to the win of the PDP in the last election as evidence of why we should vote for a PDP candidate is nothing short of an attempt to say that the legislators-elect did not win because of their impeccable character. Well, Mr. TIM, they would have won even if they had contested in any other party.

Asking our people to vote for political parties instead of strong characters that are capable of respecting our rights and our dignity is akin to plotting to take us back to the dark ages when we voted for our oppressors regardless of how they hurt us.

We have moved on. That is why in 2019, APC won in Gombe south and lost in 2023. The time for party politics is done. DONE!

This is why the lot of us who have chosen Hon Mailantarki remain unshaken in our resolve to vote for him knowing full well that our people are wiser.

The Tangale Intelligentsia Movement with all its chutzpah only speaks for itself. It is a laughable, narcissistic formation that should not be taken seriously. I mean who speaks of themselves using expressions such as ‘TIM has understudied the political happenings in Gombe state at the moment, and have sat down at an EXTRAORDINARY emergency meeting, using CREDIBLE INTELLIGENCE AND UNABATED WISDOM to settle for the candidate of the PDP’?

I call on everyone interested in a better Gombe to shun the hustler’s call. Let us stay on course and vote with our hearts. Come Saturday, It’s Hon. Khamisu Mailantarki or nothing.
