Gender Based Violence, Crime Against Humanity- Says Kaduna LG Chairman.. As AMDF Visits.

The Chairman Kajuru Local Government Council in Kaduna State., North West Nigeria, Mr Ibrahim Gajere has pledged his unflinching support for advocacy against gender based violence in his Area.

Gajere made the commitment when an Advocacy team of the Africa Media Development Foundation, AMDF implementing the Rise Up Project paid him a visit, Tuesday at the Council’s Secretariat.

To practically demonstrate the commitment, Mr. Gajere mandated his wife, Asabe to work with the team towards achieving the desired objectives of the project.

The Council Boss also assured the Community Based Action Volunteers, COMBAV of the project, of his support in the prevention of the gender based violence, especially against women and girls.

He described gender based violence as a crime against humanity.

Earlier, the Project Manager and Rise Up Fellow, Mr. Benjamin Maigari, thanked the Council Chairman for receiving members of the team despite his tight schedule.

Maigari also congratulated his host for his victory at the LG polls and wished him a fruitful tenure.

He told the Chairman that the team which had made similar visit to his immediate predecessor, came with some members of the Community Based Action Volunteers, to intimate him with the project and also seek his support in preventing the violence.

Mr. Maigari was optimistic that the State Government would formulate a policy establishing and recognizing the work being carried out by the COMBAV team.

Members of the COMBAV team were selected from each of the Six communities where the project is being implemented.
The Rise Up Project is also being carried out in Kaduna North Local Government Area with the same number of communities benefitting.
