Youths operating under the auspices of visionary Young Nigerian Leaders Initiative have accused Nigerian leaders of holding the country hostage through “destructive policies and loans”.
The youths are therefore calling on them to leave the political stage to enable them shape the sort of future befitting them and those that would come after .
Addressing a news conference in Kaduna on Saturday, the Convener #YouthAriseInDemocrayNow, James Makeri
expressed dismay that the leaders whom he called gerontocrats have marginalised the youth in key decision making across the country,a situation that needed to be changed for better.
The Convener said the youths were not only willing, but ready to take over the affairs of the country as the future belongs to them.
To this end, he said, at least, one hundred million youths and women would be nobilized towards achieving this feat come 2023.
Makeri who spoke against revolution said their ambition for power would not however materialise without the support of the gerontocrats .
“We know we can not climb the ladder without the support of the gerontocrats. For this reason, we want to remind them that the future of Nigeria depends largely on their willingness to surrender key decision bodies to the youth”, he said.
He explained that by this ambition the youths have answered the clarion call to rescue Nigeria ,come 2023.
