Gombe (Nigeria)-PDP Governors Forum has accused President Muhammadu Buhari of witch hunting the main opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2019 general elections instead of the fight against corruption

This is contained in a communique issued at the end of its meeting in Gombe, Northeast of the Country on Monday.

The communique which was read by the Forum’s Chairman and Governor of Ekiti State  said “PDP is not against a wholistic fight against corruption but what is being done now is picking on the opposition in order to weaken it so that APC can have a smooth ride back to power come 2019.

“The present Transparency International report on the fight against corruption by the Buhari led administration has vindicated the PDP and made it the only viable political party in the country”, the Forum said.

On the abduction of the Dapchi school girls by the dreaded Islamic sect Boko Haram, the communique indicted the APC of laxity in the fighting against insurgents in the North-East region of the country  saying the federal government should do everything humanly possible to get the girls back to their parents.

“Several billions of dollars have been said to have been spent to defeat the insurgents but yet people are being killed on a daily basis while many people are being abducted at will. The federal government has to wake up to its responsibility of protecting lives and properties of innocent citizens of the country”

It noted that the Buhari Administration has failed Nigerians in every ramification emphasizing that it has failed to  fulfill any of the campaign promises made to the people during the 2015 electioneering campaigns.

According to the Communique, PDP is the only credible political party in the country and is ready to reclaim power come 2019 .
“Nigerians have now seen that all the APC stand for is failed promises and political gimmicks to cling unto power”.

AFRICA PRIME NEWS reports that the meeting was attended by six PDP State Governors, while others were represented by their Deputies as well as members of the National Working Committee, some members of the Board of Trustees and State Chairmen.
