Gombe (Nigeria) — The crisis that rocked All Progressive Congress (APC) chapter in Gombe State, northeast Nigeria, may have come to an end, following the election of new State executive members.
The election is coming after over two years of internal crises between Senator Danjuma Goje and Senator Usman Bayero, who formed factions after the party missed an opportunity of forming Government in the State, surprisingly worn by the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in 2015.
The election, held Saturday night at the Gombe International Hotel, which, Amangal Nite who beat five other Chairmanship contestants during a relatively transparent process presided over by Abba Bala Ka’oje from the party’s National Secretariat Abuja.
The Congress also elected Adamu Abubakar as the State Party Secretary and six other party positions that were keenly contested for, except that of the office of the State Youth Leader, where a particular contestant’s name was omitted.

The State Caretaker Committee Chairman, Idi Barde Gubana from Yobe State had before the election commended the APC members in Gombe State for supporting and giving him the opportunity to unite the members, which resulted in holding the successful state Congress.
The Gombe State chapter of the APC was immediately after the 2015 general election thrown into an endless internal crises following alleged betrayal by some party bigwigs which resulted in the return of Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo of the PDP.
Notable APC bigwigs that closed ranks and personally participated in the State Congress held Saturday night were immediate past Governor of the State, Senator Muhammad Danjuma Goje, Minister of State for Power, Works and Housing, Suleiman Hassan Jara, the party’s Gubernatorial candidate in the 2015 general elections, Inuwa Yahaya, three House of Representatives Members, a dozen 2019 Governorship aspirants and many party stalwarts.
