The statement urges members to dress in their union uniforms to avoid miscreants hijacking the session

Action Alliance Petitions IGP Over Plot by Expelled Chairman to Inaugurate EXCO

0

The Action Alliance (AA) has petitioned the Inspector General of Police, Mr Usman Alkali over plot by an expelled member of the party, Mr Kenneth Udeze to organize an inauguration ceremony in Abuja on Tuesday.

The  petition signed by the
National Secretary of the party, Mr Suleiman Abdulrasheed and made available to media in kaduna on Monday stated that the planned inauguration ceremony is illegal as Udeze has been expelled from the party since last year.

He alleged that the plan by Udeze to inaugurate a non existing executive committee of the party under his leadership is against the constitution of the party.

Already, Udeze had reportedly written to the Inspector General of Police to secure police permit for the inauguration ceremony of his executive holding in Abuja.

But the national executive of the party under the leadership of Hon Rufai Adekunle Omoaje warned the police not to be part of the inauguration ceremony as it is illegal.

The party described Udeze as an impostor and warned members of the public not to be part of his illegal deals

Besides, the party called on the police and other security agencies not to be part of the charade planned by Udeze and his cohorts.

Also, the AA warned unsuspecting members of the public not to be decieved by the antics of Udeze as there is no inauguration ceremony holding in any part of the country by the party.

Gombe: Tangale Christians Extend Hands of Fellowship To Muslim Brothers At Ramadan

0
Gombe State

Just as they gloriously celebrated the Easter, Christians in Tangale Community in Biliri Local Government Area of Gombe State have urged their Muslim brothers and sisters to approach Ramadan with humility and contrition.

A statement by the General Secretary of the Community, Lamela Umoru Lakorok wishes the Muslims peaceful and fulfilling experience as they focus attention on the annual event with their fellow Muslims world wide.

The statement assured the Muslims of their love and prayers throughout the month of Ramadan.

On the events in the last two months in Tangale land, the statement blamed them on the personal choice of Gov. Mohammed Inuwa Yahaya whose ego misled him to a path of lawlessness

‘We, the Tangale people will continue to raise our voices and draw the attention of the world to the recalcitrant actions of the governor and call for justice to be meted on him.

According to the statement, the community would continue to document his crimes against humanity adding that sooner or later the hand of justice will catch up with him.

Some of the alleged crimes are enumerated below :-

“Their criminal acts include random arrests and detention for four weeks (and counting), of the District head of Todi, young men and women to include a nursing mother and a very sick man; the imposition of curfew on Tangale land for more than four weeks, the deaths of five people because of the governor’s overturning of traditional elections that resulted in violence, the wanton destruction of property, and the imposition of a stooge on the Mai Tangle stool, among other crimes. Let it be clear that the Commissioner of Police has the choice to follow the rule of law but chose to work with the governor as a partner in crime. If either he or the governor thinks their actions will not find retribution, we remind them of leaders like Augusto Pinoche of Chile who was indicted in 1998 for human rights violations committed in his native Chile years earlier. Not only did the police and judiciary in Gombe deny bail for the arrested individuals in four weeks, but they also denied bail for the nursing mother and sick person even on humanitarian grounds. This is an unpardonable crime under the watch of the Commissioner of Police,” the statement said.

The community, the statement said would  continue to maintain that their tribal identity cannot be surrendered to the state.

“The imposition of a puppet of the state on the Mai Tangle stool is an act of interference in our way of life and customs. The attempts by Gov. Inuwa Yahaya to woo our people by money will come to naught. No amount of money can buy our identity and we have neither the appetite nor the desire to entertain the theatrical displays of a puppet. Our traditional kingmakers chose Dr. Musa I. Mai Yamba,” they maintained.

The statement further affirmed that the mere fact that Gov. Inuwa Yahaya thinks tribal communities are properties of the state indicates his shortsightedness and ignorance of history.

HERE UNDER IS THE FULL TEXT OF THE STATEMENT;–

Press Release by TCO & Happy Ramadan 2021 to all FAFs!

Ladies and Gentlemen of the Press, we want to express gratitude to the almighty God for the successful celebration of Easter last week. It was refreshing to see tens of thousands in Tangale land remember and celebrate the most important event in history. It is clear from the celebrations that no amount of hostility and wielding of the sword by the state can force the heart of our people to “emperor worship.” To that end, we encourage our Muslim brothers and sisters to approach their very important religious pillar of Fast of Ramadan with humility and contrition, knowing that both our religions require such acts from the heart as we seek the attention of God almighty. We wish you a peaceful and fulfilling experience as you focus attention on the annual event with fellow Muslims worldwide. We assure you of our love and prayers throughout the month of Ramadan.

Speaking of peace, we reiterate that events of the last two months in Tangale land were the personal choice of Gov. Mohammed Inuwa Yahaya whose ego has misled him to a path of lawlessness. We, the Tangale people will continue to raise our voices and draw the attention of the world to the recalcitrant actions of the governor and call for justice to be meted on him. We continue to document his crimes against humanity by our press releases. We know that sooner or later the hand of justice will catch up with him. We are glad to report that the United States Congress, the US Department of State, and Africa Command are aware and paying attention to the ongoing genocidal acts against the minority tribes of the Middle Belt Nigeria committed by power drunk state actors like Gov. Inuwa Yahaya. We invite the International Criminal Court and Human Rights organizations to pay attention to the specific actions of the government of Gombe state, including the Commissioner of Police for Gombe state, who is a federal security officer working in cahoots with the governor, and the High Court justice of Gombe state.

Their criminal acts include random arrests and detention for four weeks (and counting), of the District head of Todi, young men and women to include a nursing mother and a very sick man; the imposition of curfew on Tangale land for more than four weeks, the deaths of five people because of the governor’s overturning of traditional elections that resulted in violence, the wanton destruction of property, and the imposition of a stooge on the Mai Tangle stool, among other crimes. This is an unpardonable crime under the watch of the Commissioner of Police.

Our cry is that we be left alone to govern the affairs of our traditions and culture as made clear in the current Gombe state Chieftaincy law. The longer it takes to revert the unwise decision of the governor to interfere in our tribal selection of our traditional ruler, the more criminal acts by the state are added to the list. We continue to maintain that our tribal identity cannot be surrendered to the state. The imposition of a puppet of the state on the Mai Tangle stool is an act of interference in our way of life and customs. The attempts by Gov. Inuwa Yahaya to woo our people by money will come to naught. No amount of money can buy our identity and we have neither the appetite nor the desire to entertain the theatrical displays of a puppet. Our traditional kingmakers chose Dr. Musa I. Mai Yamba for a reason. They know what quality leadership looks like and they know how to look forward to a better future for their land by electing him. The mere fact that Gov. Inuwa Yahaya thinks tribal communities are properties of the state indicates his shortsightedness and ignorance of history. Consequently, history is about to put him in the annals of criminal dictators who committed human rights violations.

We laud the National leadership of Tangale Community Development Association (TCDA) for its press release following the council meeting on Easter Monday. We note specifically, the fact that it speaks for Tangale people and has distanced itself from the recent rumor that another Caretaker Committee was formed by the impostor on Mai Tangle stool. We recognize and accept the decision of the council to extend the term of the Caretaker Committee for another six months. We look forward to working with the leadership on behalf of our people and the Tangale nation. We also applaud specific individuals like Reuben Bauna, who have dissociated themselves from the subversive acts of the stooge in the so-called Caretaker committee formed by some members of the traditional council. We persuade every person approached by the impostor to decline any offer of positions made in the name of Mai Tangle. The TCDA was not formed by the traditional council or Mai Tangle in the first place, and it has a working constitution that guides its decision-making including the appointment or election of its leaders.

Once again, amid a man-made crisis in Tangale land, we wish our dear Muslim brothers and sisters a Happy Fast of Ramadan!
Long Live Dr. Musa Idris Mai Yamba, Long Live Tangale Land, Long Live Gombe State, Long Live Nigeria

Lamela Umaru Lakorok

Between Market Dominance and Sugar War [Opinion]

0

By Lukmon Tajuddeen

The government of Nigeria through its various laws and agencies ensures regulation of businesses in the country. This is to guarantee ease of doing business for investors, entrepreneurs, business-oriented persons, as well as safeguarding the interests of consumers.

For almost two decades, the country’s agencies responsible for regulation of businesses seem to favour Dangote’s establishments at the detriment of other stakeholders, which is pushing the Nation’s economy toward disastrous end. It is noteworthy that Dangote’s business tactics s threatening other competitors, US had warned.

There is nothing wrong with businesses competing against one another, but competition should be healthy without eroding the progress made by other active players. Personification and monopoly in business arena is always a threat to other economic movers, without recourse to the wider implications when government policies favour only one player over other competitors.

When a business policy favours one interest, it presents a dilemma for a country’s economic policy, according to a report published in 2010 on Wikileak’s website.

The current situation which allows a leading manufacturer to engage other stakeholders in a bitter rivalry on who controls sugar and cement sectors in Nigeria is clearly a display of favouritism and degree of impunity – this stance on personalisation of cement and sugar has led to absurdly high prices of the two products.

It is in public knowledge, three years ago that Dangote Group attempted to start producing noodles. De United Foods Industries (makers of Indomie noodles) did not raise its voice nor lodged a complaint against DFW’s to the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment for the Group’s attempt to start a noodle company.

Instead, it consolidated on its strategies, maintaining its market dominance in the country’s noodle industry (it has a share of around 70 percent). The company believed it had already become a household name and is not afraid of any competitor. DFW was left with no option than to sell two of its production lines to rival pasta maker. It’s not exactly clear why Dangote wouldn’t compete in the noodles market again as it earlier announced.

Now bubbles seemed to have busted with the recent sugar prices dispute in Nigeria, as Dangote Sugar and Flour Mills jointly forwarded a petition to the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, asking the Ministry to shut down BUA Group’s Sugar Refinery in Port Harcourt. Both companies requested the minister to launch a probe into the volume of raw sugar imported by BUA’s Port Harcourt refinery “and the appropriate penalty in terms of duty (60%) and level (10%) to be charged on the company”.

BUA in its defence clarified that the company’s sugar refinery in Port Harcourt would ensure “the attainment of the National Sugar Master Plan (NSMP) and the sustainability of Nigeria’s Local Sugar Industry.

The law allows him to operate the refinery to support its role as a counter-balance to the Dangote and Flour Mills duopoly in the price manipulation, while his company has also been working on an integration project, with BUA’s Lafiagi Sugar BIP, a $250 million sugar refinery set to be completed in 2022.

In addition, his Port Harcourt sugar refinery will not affect in any way the integration programme, adding that “the only way it will affect Nigerians is that Nigerians will pay lower prices for sugar. The law allows BUA to sell inside Nigeria – his sugar project was approved by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The main reason for the dispute is the duopoly plan to hike sugar prices during the holy month of Ramadan, they got across and put pressure on BUA owner to joint them to exploit consumers. His failure to do the bidding of the duo companies led to the accusations that he was breaking the law by selling sugar locally, instead of producing for export market.

To other stakeholders in sugar and flour, it is the right time to make good money, but BUA said no, even threatening to withdraw dealership license of his dealers who hiked prices of the commodities.

Last year, before Ramadan, sugar sold for around N18,000 per bag, but as Ramadan fasting started the price jumped to N30,000 per bag. From that experience, BUA saw no reason for the increase in price during Ramadan and therefore plan to end the ugly trend.

Let supervisory and regulatory agencies of businesses in the country do justice by allowing everyone to compete on the same terms. The Consumer doesn’t care which company controls the market – what matters to them is which company’s product has fair price. People are after affordable sugar and flour, if BUA can bring that, people will certainly patronise its product.

In an ideal market, businesses must compete against each other, but not for one entity to single-handedly monopolize the economy.

As the rest of the world races towards their ever-rising targets for national development and progress, Nigeria keeps loitering around the starting line, trying to figure out why its tactics of placing the carts in front of its horses is not working.

Nigeria is trying everything from share of luck to even prayer, albeit without success. The time has come to call all players to true account.

Gauteng Traffic Police in South Africa, say they will continue to reinforce law enforcement operations in the province following a high number of reported fatal crashes that led to major loss of lives during the Easter weekend.

“The Gauteng Traffic Police have adopted 365 days to reinforce and conduct law enforcement operations aimed at enhancing road safety in the province,” Gauteng Traffic Police spokesperson Sello Maremane said.

The Gauteng Traffic Police have noted that no fatalities were reported during huge traffic volumes on Thursday, however fatalities were experienced on Friday between 18:00 and 22:00.

This was as a result of people driving under the influence of alcohol.

According to preliminary Easter Season Road Safety statistics, Gauteng recorded 30 crashes resulting in 36 fatalities.

“While the figures are relatively high, the law enforcement authorities have observed that significant amount of work has been done to reduce the number of crashes leading to fatalities.

“The Gauteng Traffic Police have also noted that pedestrian fatalities increased by 35% from a 30% recorded in 2019. What is of  concern is that most of these fatalities occurred between midnight and the early hours when people were expected to adhere to the curfew put in place by government to minimize the spread of the COVID-19 virus.”

It was encouraged that passenger fatalities declined from 38% to 34%.

Deaths among motor vehicle drivers and cyclists remained unchanged at around 30% and 1% respectively.

“Many road crashes leading to fatalities that the province experienced during the Easter season are attributed to attitude, vehicle as well as or road factors. However, we are encouraged that the use of technology on Gauteng roads has assisted to ensure that vehicles that are not roadworthy are discontinued; drunken drivers and speedsters are apprehended and locked behind bars,” Maremane said.

Meanwhile, the Gauteng Traffic Police has extended their deepest condolences to the families and friends who lost their loved ones during the Easter Season period. It has also wished a speedy recovery to those receiving medical treatment as a result of injuries sustained from fatal crashes. –SAnews.gov.za

Nigerian Government: A Reflection of The People?

0
Muhammadu Buhari
President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria

By Andrew A. Erakhrumen, PhD

The truth is bitter, they say. Certainly, it may be, or may not be, depending on the perspective(s) deployed in analysing, interpreting and projecting what is, or what is not, the Truth. Consequently, what is, or what is not, the Truth? Wole Soyinka quoted a Malian sage – Tierno Bokar Saalif Tall (1875–1939) – also known as the Sage of Bandiagara, who preached that TRUTH is threefold: there is my truth, there is your truth, and there is the truth. Soyinka, nonetheless, went ahead to add that “.…… there is of course also the possibility of a fourth, which is that there is no truth at all, an anarchic condition that leaves the world floundering in a moral void…….” This, in our opinion, is a challenge to all, mainly the truth-seekers, whose preoccupation is the sincere search for, and reportage of, the truth. We will leave these opinionated positions at this level of discussion for now while we proceed by engaging in another, concerning some observations in our society that, if so considered, may be agreed to be true. As public commentators, we have been criticised for, and confronted with questions relating to, holding ONLY people in government responsible for Nigeria’s challenges. It is some people’s opinion, and rightly so, that the challenges encountered, today, by our country have the active contributions of the followers.

What are the arguments of those who, rightly, believe that the followers are part of the country’s problem? Firstly, and perhaps the core, is that political leaders – many of whom, formerly, were followers before attaining ‘leadership’ status – are from the same society as their followers. This is largely correct even as the processes of transiting from followership to political leadership, in our clime, are fraught with many contradictions. To simply say it in plain words: We have in abundance not ‘real’ leaders but ‘dealers’ emanating, based on some warped value systems, from the people! Of course, much should be unexpected from these ‘dealers’ as they will definitely end up scamming the people! This is really a national predicament. These arguments did not end there. They were further advanced by asking some questions like: Is it people in government that cheat consumers by selling inferior products for the price of higher quality ones in our markets? What about those tampering with measuring devices in order to cheat buyers? After selling eight ‘cups’ of grains as ten, what moral right do such person have to criticise government? What of the artisans whose intention is to cheat their clients in all transactions?

When those saddled with the responsibility of preventing fake or substandard products from getting into the country connive with importers to flood the markets with these same products, how do we explain this? When civil servants refuse to do their job, and/or decide to hide files, in order to be bribed, what do we call this? The civil servants who steal, and aid politicians in stealing, public resources, cannot be said to be morally upright. After leaving ‘service’, they suggest solutions. Why, as ‘physicians’, did they not heal themselves while in ‘service’? Yes, we always see those law-breaking ‘dealers’, every time, in their dark-tinted vehicles accompanied by their brigand-like, heavily-weaponised, ‘koboko’-wielding security escorts that dangerously force us off the road (sometimes causing fatal auto crashes) for them to drive past. Nevertheless, what make you, their followers – who regularly drive against traffic or do not obey traffic lights – different from these law-breakers that call themselves your leaders? How do we distinguish between contractors and those ‘dealers’ in government; when the former delivers non or inferior goods/services as against what was originally quoted and payment received for while the latter renege on all their campaign promises once ‘elected’ into office? Simply, both of them are scammers!

What about political thugs, vote sellers, under-aged voters? What did they think they were doing? After being paid peanuts for doing the bidding(s) of their master(s), they come out afterwards, when things go awry, as programmed, to shout that the government is not performing well. Are these people in good moral standing to criticise the government they illicitly put in place? Some Nigerians also connive with these ‘dealers’ to rig elections from the pooling booths to collation centres and they later come out to shamelessly lament about bad governance. What were they expecting from the people they helped in rigging into power? It appears they did not think deep enough to know that their leaders (dealers) are in business, so they must recoup their investment! Did any ‘dealer’ or political party openly come out in defence of the person recently accused of election fraud in Akwa Ibom State, arraigned in a court of law, tried, convicted and sentenced to three years imprisonment? We are not, in any way, pointing accusing finger at any political party, here, as we have been able to come to the conclusion, earlier and now, that the difference existing among these parties – as one commentator said on a radio station – is the same!

Cheating is cheating, either in examinations, admission into schools, or employment/appointments that are not necessarily based on merit but solely on crude primordial considerations. Once a society is seriously afflicted with the highlighted and other unmentioned socio-political ills, it may be difficult to criticise the government resulting from such milieu. The ‘dealers’, now ravenously looting our common patrimony, are fairly linked to their followers in terms of immorality. Yes, these links exist because if all had done things morally right, in individual’s varied corners, we are much likely not to have experienced this unfortunate socio-political decadence in our country today. The family settings, within which morals and correct value system are taught, appear to have either broken down or no more efficient, as in the past, for this purpose. Political position – in this country, Nigeria, at this current epoch – is now seen as a ‘jungle’ or ‘no-man’s-land’ where politicians move into, from their families/clans/tribes, to exploit and plunder. This is the mindset of these ‘dealers’ and other potential ones in the current political space, plus others that are still sandwiched within the mass of followers. Criticising government in power only for the purpose of getting into power and not to add any value to governance is now the order of the day.

The country appears to be suppressed and repressed to the level of not having the capability of knowing where and how to choose its leaders! This is calamitous to a developing country! The foregoing may give an impression that Nigerian government perfectly reflects the society. No, it really does not, as the country has in abundance morally-upright and brilliant minds not currently put to use for national development. We agree that leadership is to give correct direction especially in Nigeria where there is the availability of some of the most obedient followers when the right conditions are enabled. However, the challenge, in Nigeria and many parts of Africa, has been that the dregs of society are the ones whose hands the responsibility of ‘leadership’ falls into, and to worsen issues, when they make appointments, they cascade mediocrity by appointing bootlickers and people inferior to them in terms of competence. We have many of them, even at the lower rung of the societal ladder, with poverty – of the mind, of morals, of ideas, of identity, of clear principle. Those who can add value to governance are not allowed to. Therefore, what are we expecting from these charlatans? All the same, failure in leadership in Nigeria should serve as a wake-up call to all. We cannot afford to be stuck at this stage of political development.

This failure in leadership should encourage intensified enlightenment and re-orientation of our people particularly the ‘common man’. This is of high-priority because the shrewd political class, collectively, has devised seemingly sustainable means of keeping the ‘common man’ at a level where he/she will always be at their (political class’) beck and call, in perpetuity. This is part of the reasons why the ‘common man’ asks for pittance (as small as some grains of rice) during electoral processes. We cannot continue like this! These ‘hawks’ must be challenged and asked questions! Our rights must be demanded but this can only be done, and results achieved, when we all come together to fight the ills that have been enabled and sustained, for long, by the followers. This is because, according to the maxim, “he who comes into equity must come with clean hands”. The followers, most especially the ‘common man’, in collaboration with the almost non-existing middle class, should endeavour to rescue this country from these ‘hawks’ that are more of shylock ‘dealers’ than leaders. Lurking in the alley for your own time to eat from the current ‘soured meal’ may appear as a short-cut but it is not! One may think he/she will not partake in receiving negative consequences of the rot, being contributed to, now, but Mother Nature has her ways of getting back at all of us. This fact is irrespective of whether we believe, and/or like, it or not.

THE SUGAR DISPUTE BETWEEN BUA AND DANGOTE ON WHOSE INTEREST?

0

By Abba Dukawa

Last  December China’s State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) announced   that it was investigating Alibaba for alleged monopolistic business practises.

The investigation came when SAMR realised that  he had abused its market dominance when  punished merchants if they didn’t sell their merchandise exclusively on its platforms  through a practice dubbed “er xuan yi,” which means “choose one out of two.”  Just last Saturday SAMR fine  Alibaba $2.8 Billion For Abusing Its Dominant Market Position.

This is how  supervision agencies  of businesses of any country should be by  protecting all. Despite  government of Nigeria through its various laws and agencies assigned for the supervision and regulation of businesses in the country protect right of all captains of industries at same time to ensure the ease of doing business for investors, entrepreneurs, business-oriented persons as well as safeguarding the interests of the customers.

But in the country personification and monopoly of the markets by other  dominant conglomerates has made assigned government’s agencies weak and partial instead of being impartial to all without act of preferential treatment to one person at the expense of others.

There is nothing wrong in business competition, but competition should be healthy without eroding the progress made by other active conglomerate.

Because  personification and monopoly of one active player conglomerates is  threat to other economic movers without recourse to the wider implications. Is this  not absurdly for a  government to guarantees  one mover a solid right over other conglomerates competitors?.

How come a government can  guarantees one conglomerate much rights at the detrains of other economic mover is this not like  mortgaging  the whole country  prosperity at the expense of one conglomerate economic well being which at the  end will  push  the Nation’s economy toward disastrous end, as of  this conglomerates wherever operating  seeks to muscle out competition through any means necessary.

In as much as such policy favours  one interest continue  it really presents a dilemma for country’s economic policy, according to a  report published in 2010 on Wikileak’s website.

It is already in the public court of views  that  Dangote Sugar and Flour Mills of Nigeria  jointly forwarded a petition to the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment  asking the Ministry of Trade to shut down BUA Group’s Sugar Refinery  in Port Harcourt. Both companies requested the minister to launch a probe into the volume of raw sugar imported by BUA’s Port Harcourt refinery and the appropriate penalty in terms of duty (60%) and level (10%) to be charged on the company to be taken against they rival.

To many the petition displaying degree of impunity from them in spite the law allows BUA to operate the refinery to support its role as a counter-balance to the Dangote and Flour Mills duopoly in the  price manipulation.

In its own defence sent to the  Minister of Trade  clarified issues by stating his  Port Harcourt Sugar  Refinery will not affect in any way the backward integration programme adding that “the only way it will affect Nigerians is that Nigerians will pay lower prices for sugar.  As the  same  law allows it to sell inside Nigeria. Because sugar refine project  was approved by President Muhammadu Buhari.

People see Dangote Group, Flour Mills conglomerate’s  petition as an act of selfish end or just  acting as friends in connivance because of their interest to push out other competition and create a monopoly for themselves.

To other, is  like  calling to question the authority of the President’s power
as an affront to the powers of the president and an attempt to undermine Nigeria and its institutions as well as edge out competition, to gain a monopoly.

It is in the public knowledge similar  scenario had played out over right  cement operation some years ago and again in this case over the sugar refinery and right of selling it within the country.

This issue has become  burning issues of   discussions among commodities buyers, in  markets shops,  stalls  on the sugar refinery and price  disagreement  between two leading manufacturer     in the country.

Before bubbles burst out Abdulsamad assured the commodities buyers that his company has provided enough commodities that would cater for all states during and after the Ramadan period. This gesture is to alleviate the hardship faced by commodities buyers last year during the Ramadan.

Also threatened to withdraw licenses of any of its dealers found increasing the price of commodities capitalizing on high demands during Ramadan.

Last  year, before Ramadan, sugar sold for around N18,000  per bag but  as Ramadan fasting started the price jumped to 30,000 per bag.  This marching order has already stabilized the market commodities market especially in Kano as of now a mud of sugar was sold at  N1200 against N2500 last Ramadan.

Maybe this act  of compassion is not well to other active players or either duopoly  plan to hike sugar  price  at Ramadan as consumers have no choice but to buy it.

In nutshell  his failure  to do the bidding of duo companies angered them therefore accused him of  breaking the law by selling sugar locally instead of for export.

My point of view is not to blame or put finger at the duo but to call for restraints because in very ideal businesses must have to compete against each other but should not  be  for one  entity  single-handedly monopolized every economic products.

To the Consumer, they don’t care which company controls the market, what matter to them which company products had fair price because People need affordable sugar and flour if Dangote or BUA can bring that, surely people will patronise  it.

Let supervision and regulation of businesses in the country be carried out with justice, fairness and equity by allowing  everyone to compete on the same terms.

People’s hope and time has come to call all players to truly account and respect sanctity of other active player.
