Nigeria Has Collapsed Due To Bad Leadership – Says Wike

0

Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, says the baffling state of insecurity and the unchallenged killings of citizens by outlaws in parts of the country is a clear manifestation of bad leadership.

He said it is now obvious to those who threw caution to the wind to foist such bad leadership on the people, that Nigeria has collapsed.

Governor Wike made the assertion when he had an interactive session with traditional rulers, political and opinion leaders of Andoni nationality at Government House, Port Harcourt Tuesday.

According to Governor Wike, instead of leaders to be bold to speak against the ills in the land and sincerely pursue solutions to them, they indulge in sycophancy.

“Nigeria has totally collapsed. Look at, today, what happened in Nasarawa and Benue States, how they slaughtered people on the road. See what is happening in Niger State and the APC Governor there is crying, saying he has been talking to the Federal Government but nobody has listened to him. And that Boko Haram has come to take over the state, which is closest to Abuja.”

The governor recalled that when he raised alarm of the looming danger of insecurity it was politicised, some persons in the opposition dismissed it as mere politics. But, ironically states controlled by the All Progressives Congress (APC) are now the worst hit.

“Look at Kaduna and Imo States, there is insecurity everywhere. The only anger I have with Imo State Governor is this; I don’t know how people politicise things.”

The governor castigated APC governors for claiming their party has solved the problems of hunger, unemployment, whereas they could barely stay in their State to provide governance for those who elected them.

“Nigeria has a lot of problems and they keep running to the villa everyday to disturb Mr. President, for him to see their faces, pose for photograph and will not allow him to work.

“You know you have crisis at your place, you can’t stay to solve it, but everyday you go to see Mr. President so that the world will know that you’re close to him.”

Governor Wike assured that the Andoni axis of the Ogoni-Opobo-Andoni Unity Road project will be completed by August 2021 because the contractor has been so directed.

He also challenged the different levels of leadership in Andoni to priorise development of the entire area and work together to actualise it.

“The Opobo axis of the road will be ready by May 2021. I’ve told the contractor that there will be no excuse for the Andoni axis of the unity road project not to be completed before August or September 2021. I know, we have paid over 90 per cent.

The governor charged the delegation to collectively work with the State government to tackle the issue of insecurity in Andoni.

“We cannot achieve it if you do not work with us. Traditional rulers, chairman of council, and opinion leaders, you must work with us by giving us information that will help the security agencies to address the security challenge.”

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the Okan Ama of Ikuru Town, King Aaron Ikuru said they were in Government House, to seek intervention of the State government in the security challenges in Andoni.

“We recognise and acknowledge your efforts in the timely deployment joint Taskforce to Unyeada and Asarama axis in 2020 to quell the rage caused by some youths then.

“Recently, the deployment of the newly reformed C. 4.i security outfits to Ngo Town, our Local Government Headquarters. These interventions brought relative peace.

“These efforts put in by the Traditional Rulers, Chiefs and leaders of Andoni in 2020 on this matter yielded no result and the cultists are taking advantage of this to inflict more harms on our people.”

Security: Relocate Hqtrs Of AFRICOM To Africa — Buhari Asks US

0

President Muhammadu Buhari Tuesday urged the United States to reconsider relocating US Africa Command (AFRICOM) from Stuttgart, Germany, to Africa, nearer the Theatre of Operation, admonishing the international community to support Nigeria and the sub-region in tackling growing security challenges to avoid spillovers.

President Buhari, in a virtual meeting with the US Secretary of State, Mr. Anthony Blinken, said AFRICOM, which partners with countries to counter transnational threats, should be relocated to Africa to strengthen ongoing efforts to check the security situation, with likely effect on other nations.
“The security challenges in Nigeria remain of great concern to us and impacted more negatively, by existing complex negative pressures in the Sahel, Central and West Africa, as well as the Lake Chad Region.
“Compounded as the situation remains, Nigeria and her security forces remain resolutely committed to containing them and addressing their root causes.  The support of important and strategic partners like United States cannot be overstated as the consequences of insecurity will affect all nations hence the imperative for concerted cooperation and collaboration of all nations to overcome these challenges.
“In this connection, and considering the growing security challenges in West and Central Africa, Gulf of Guinea, Lake Chad region and the Sahel, weighing heavily on Africa, it underscores the need for the United States to consider re-locating AFRICOM Headquarters from Stuttgart, Germany to Africa and near the Theatre of Operation,’’ he said.
The President said Nigeria will enhance collaborations in all forms, with friends and strategic partners, to work together for greater security for all, which remain the most significant condition for overcoming the existential challenges.
President Buhari congratulated Blinken on his appointment by President Joe Biden, and commended the United States for the decision to repeal the immigration restriction known as the “Muslim ban’’, re-joining the World Health Organization (WHO) and Paris Agreement on Climate Change.
“Nigeria attaches great importance to its relations with the United States. Let me in this connection express appreciation to President Joe Biden for his welcome and reaching decision to repeal the Immigration restriction known as the ‘Muslim ban’ on travel and visas for citizens predominantly from Muslim Nations and African Countries, including Nigeria.
“I also wish to congratulate the United States for re-joining the World Health Organization (WHO) and Paris Agreement on Climate Change.  The leadership of the United States in these two organizations is crucial for international community.
“This action is a demonstration of the United States commitment in championing and supporting international organizations with the aim to build a better world for all,’’ he added.
President Buhari noted that Nigeria remains resolute in her commitment to supporting global efforts as enshrined in the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, which seeks to limit global warming and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
According to the President, the convening of the Climate Change Summit last week by President Biden was a strong indication of the renewed interest of the United States to the Paris Agreement.
“I would like to extend our goodwill message to President Joe Biden and his Administration.  May I also thank you for initiating this meeting, which I am confident, given your background and current position, you will use to promote the existing bilateral relations between our two countries,’’ the President said.
The Secretary of State said he was pleased to make Nigeria part of his “first virtual visit to Africa,” noting that Nigeria and the United States of America, share a lot in bilateral issues.
He added that he would be delighted to build on the foundation that was laid between the two countries over 60 years ago, disclosing that areas of discussion with Nigeria would include “how to build our economies back after the COVID-19 pandemic, security for vulnerable communities, and climate issues.”

Air Marshal Sadique Baba Abubakar Rtd: The Wrong Candidate For Bauchi State

0

-By Air Commodore Ali Muhammad Sadique rtd_

May I say that I read through the campaign lines dropped by Mr. Abdulrahman Sade with keen interest because it concerned Bauchi State. It suffices to mention that I am a bonafide indigene of Bauchi State and indeed borne and brought up in Bauchi city on the same Kobi street with your subject here, Air Marshal Baba Sadique Abubakar retired.

I schooled in Kobi primary school and GSS Misau before proceeding to the prestigious Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA). By the special grace of Allah SWT, I became an officer in the Nigerian Air Force and retired on the rank of Air Commodore an equivalent of a Brigadier General in the Nigerian Army.

So, with the above good lay of my background, you can tell that I shared long life with the former Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Baba Abubakar Sadique rtd.

Therefore, I would like to acquaint Mr. Abdulrahman Sade with very little out of the much I knew about Air Marshal Sadique Baba Abubakar because it is my belief that you don’t know him as much as I do. Nevertheless, I supposed Mr Sade should have done some background checks on the personality of his subject from officers and airmen of NAF in particular especially, now that Air Marshal Sadique Baba Abubakar is retired, before proceeding to make such political recommendations on him to the people of Bauchi State.

Well; you are just starting so, let me tell you in brief what I and many of my colleagues in NAF think about Air Marshal Sadique Baba Abubakar rtd. Indeed he is a ‘wolf in sheep’s skin.’ A mean and arrogant personality without regard to other people. The details will come as soon as you continue with this campaign.

Therefore, you may need to reconsider your choice of a governor for Bauchi State, my dear brother. I really love my state too. Therefore, I cannot sit down and fold my arms to watch you or anybody sales Air Marshal Sadique Baba Abubakar rtd as Bauchi State governorship candidate.

It is not because I hate his person but, I definitely hate his mistrust and wickedness. Please you need to consult widely to know who the former Chief of the Air Staff, Abubakar is all about before embarking on almost a failed mission.

Bauchi State had suffered a big deal when it comes to leadership. Take a look at Gombe State borne out of Bauchi State but, far more developed and commercially viable. It is all because people like you kept selling the wrong guys. I recalled the last good governor we had was Tatari Ali of blessed memory. Until now when Gov Bala Kaura came on board and is doing the needful projects throughout the state. I am not a politician but, for the love of Bauchi State, I can’t keep quiet watch this wrong proposal scale through even though, I cannot stop whatever Allah SWT destined for the state.

Notwithstanding, I am ready to tell whoever cares to listen that Air Marshal Sadique Baba Abubakar rtd is a wrong choice for Bauchi State governor because it may lead to more regret than we have in the past.

Bauchi State deserves better and continuity especially now that somebody with the necessary zeal is doing it. We are all stakeholders in the state. I don’t care if anybody is projecting Air Marshal Sadique Baba Abubakar rtd because of monitory or material gains.

He/she doesn’t have to go to the extent of rocking the state boat.
Let Bala Kaura’s boat keep sailing until 2027 when we wish to have someone who will continue with the present good work Kaura is doing.

I am ready to take anybody point by point on each of the points you listed as pluses for Air Marshal Sadique Baba Abubakar rtd.

I remain Air Commodore Ali Muhammad Sadique rtd and can be reached via 0803 928 0346.
