0

In recognition of the importance of faith and spiritual disciplines in human relationships, the Tangale Community in overseas has felicitated with the home muslim faith in Biliri Local government area of Gombe State, at Eid el fitri.

In a message on the occasion signed by the General Secretary, Lamela Umaru Lakoro, the Community says it rejoices with all Tangale Muslims in this important landmark of the faith and pray for a restful and peaceful consummation of the Fast in the festivities of Eid el Fitr.

“In fact, this season brings back memories of Sallah and Christmas celebrations in Tangale land.

“It has always been a time of celebration and sharing of goodwill among our people. We all know that when people are spiritually attuned, they tend to have a better outlook on life and the most important things of life.

” One of the unique qualities that separate human beings from animals is our spiritual consciousness usually expressed in religion.

“All the Abrahamic religions have held on to some moral ideals to which we all aspire. It is on account of those shared moralities and values that we express well-wishes for each other when religious events are celebrated by one of these faith traditions.

“We use special days such as Eid el Fitr to reaffirm our commitment to those moral values to adhere to and challenge each other to live up to those religious values that have held us together over the centuries.

“We do so, knowing fully well that there are always some individuals who hide under the guise of religion to do evil and cause division among people and especially, among families.

“We hereby reject such people in Tangale, whether they are politicians or people simply seeking self-aggrandizement at the expense of the community.

“We will always expose those who seek to impose their ideologies or religious views on others in Tangale land. We believe in the freedom of religion, and that every Tangale person must be free to practice whatever faith they choose.

” We will continue to draw the attention of our brothers and sisters when we see or perceive the strategy of divide and conquer from our enemies.

“The Tangale nation is today celebrating the end of the Fast of Ramadan as its sons and daughters of the Islamic faith celebrate Eid al Fitr. We wish you a very peaceful celebration and pray that God grants you the privilege to see next year’s event”, the message ends

Abba Dukawa :

The Executive Director Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD) Engineer Y.Z Yau  has frowned  at government’s failure through the security agencies to tackle insecurity in the country,

Instead, he said, they seem to be in a debate among themselves as to who can offer the explanation of their failure.

According to him “we are all aware that  insecurity across the country has made no where in Nigeria a safe place in the country as Kidnapping, banditry and  violence have all become common place that peace is the only illusive constant.

Engineer Y.Z Yau made the observation at a press conference held at CITAD Kano office on Wednesday.

He observed that for government to curtail the insecurity, there is need for security agencies to increase the use of digital technology in terms of intelligensia sharing among agencies to upfront merchants of violence in the country .

” Re-equipping our army and intelligence agencies who have been underequipped through this approach, will help reduce the nation security challenges.

” If these criminals can  wage a campaign of terror and violence using Technology and intelligence, this means that government’s’ counter insurgency must also turn to be based on intelligence, but we have not seen this in the way that army and other agencies are prosecuting the campaign against insurgents.

Engineer Y.Z Yau  added  What government should adopt Technology and intelligence,  need to develop, through consultation , Use of Technology for Counter Insurgency Plan and Strategy, Identity and address connectivity  black spots in the country, especially within environments where bandits and insurgents are operating

The statement further explains
developing a full characterisation of insurgents, use of social media and track down their conversations using the identified markers and also need for internationally accepted standards, protocols for monitoring suspected insurgents

In doing these, he said,  government should not indiscriminately monitor citizens to trample and desecrate their right to digital privacy.

Sultan’s Declaration On 1ST Shawwal, 1442AH And Eid-UL-FitriI Is Thur 13TH May …Refutes Media Report

0

The attention of Media Office of the Sultan of Sokoto and Sariki Musulumi of Nigeria, Mai Alfarma Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, CFR, mni, has been called to a very misleading post on a Facebook social media page called, “Tijjaniya Online”, which said that the Sultan had made a u-turn on his declaration of Thursday 13th May, 2021 as 1st Shawwal, 1442AH and Eid-ul-Fitri Celebration.

The post, written in Hausa Language and credited to one “Fityanu Media” but posted on the page of Tijjaniya Online, purportedly claimed that, “The Sultan has made u-turn on his broadcast of Shawwal after our leader, Maolana Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi authenticated Shawwal moon sighting,” thereby calling Muslims in the country, against the constituted authority of the Sultan, to go to Eid and celebrate Sallah on Wednesday.

We wish to make it emphatically clear to the over 100 million Muslims of Nigeria that His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, as a man of principle, self respect and very highly and sincerely committed to leading the Muslim Ummah of Nigeria aright, in his 15 years on the throne and as Leader of the Ummah, has never used one word to mean two. Once he declares his moonsighting it stands.

Moreso, it may be pertinent for the concerned members of the public to know that the Sultan is not a Mr. Know All Acting Alone. Everything he does in moonsighting is based consultations even after profound and meticulous facts checking.  He has a very formidable Moon Sighting System that is second to none anywhere around, based on dictates of the Qur’an and Hadeeth of the Prophet peace be upon him..

The average Muslims in the village and at the grassroots sight the moon. He has never himself sighted one but has a very well articulated system that carries out integrity checks on moon sighting information gathered from across the states and then, based on consultations with and advise of National Moon Sighting Committee (NMSC), the Religious Affairs Committee of the Sultanate Council as well as the various committees consisting of members from, not only Northerners but also, across other tribes, he made his sincere broadcast directing the Muslims to either commence or end fasting at respective times of Ramadan’s new moon sighting and Shawwal’s new moon sighting.

In his rare nature of responding to such misinformation, the Sultan said HE DID NOT declare Wednesday as 1st Shawwal 1442AH and Sallah but that, SURELY, HE DECLARED THURSDAY 23TH MAY 2021 and that he never made a u-turn from that declaration neither has he any intention to do so.

“It said I declared Wednesday as Eid after Dahiru Bauchi called me!!! Fake news and very low and unislamic behavior!!” The Sultan said.

In a statement issued and signed by Prof. Sambo Wali Junaidu, the Wazirin Sokoto and Chairman, Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs, Sultanate Council, Tuesday night, the Sultan had approved the report of no-moon sighting submitted to him by his advisory committee, in conjunction with the National Moon Sighting Committee (NMSC) and the various other related committees across the country.

“His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, CFR, mni, the Sultan of Sokoto and President General, Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) has accepted the report and accordingly declared Thursday 13th May 2021, as the first day of Shawwal 1442AH (Day of Idul-Fitri).

“His Eminence the Sultan felicitates with the Nigerian Muslim Ummah and wishes them Allah’s guidance and blessings,” Prof. Junaidu said.

Where those acting for any particular Muslim leader, for whatever reason known to them, heard “Wednesday” whereas what the entire world heard and read from the report approved by the Sultan was “Thursday”, remains a matter of concern.

One is concerned, considering the kind of people, who should cooperate with the the Leader for the unity of Muslims and, by extension, peace, unity and overall development of Nigeria, but resort to using deliberate misinformation to misguide Muslims even in a religious affair as cogent as Ramadan fasting. It is not only unfortunate, it is sad.

Signed:
Prince Bashir Adefaka
