Miyyati Allah to SOKAPU: Stop Dangerous Misinformation Against Government Agencies, Fulani Herdsmen

0

The Miyyati Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria  Kaduna State Chapter has risen against what it called incessant dangerous misinformation and lies being dolled out against government agencies and Fulani herdsmen by the Southern Kaduna peoples Union, SOKAPU.

The reaction is contained in a statement titled “SOKAPU AND ITS FREQUENT PRESS RELEASES; END OF THE ROAD” issued on Sunday by the MACBAN, Kaduna State Chapter Chairman, Alhaji Haruna Usman Tugga and made available to newsmen in Kaduna,

MACBAN said the inability of SOKAPU to conceptualize the exact figures of casualties and properties and homes destroyed or come average the number of people displaced so far, should therefore be seen as the end of the incessant lies by the Union.

It said the leadership of SOKAPU was  solely acting on their own by shouting and crying wolf in spite of the brazen fact that some blood thirsty individuals have been organizing selective and strategic genocide of Fulani herdsmen over long period of time resulting in collosal losses.

It noted with concern that the Union had
never honoured any pact on resolutions reached in Southern Kaduna by the various groups that were concerned about the wanton killings and wealth destructions in the area.

Rather, SOKAPU’s concern, the statement added, was to blackmail security agencies and government at all levels

“We at the Miyetti Allah have appreciated every effort that has ever been made by the recognized and patriotic security agencies particularly the Operation Safe Haven headed by a professional and patriotic soldier in person of Major General Dominic Onyemulu and other security agencies operating in the area with government at all levels”,

SOKAPU as a group, MACBAN said, was still living and thinking behind civilization, and that the southern Kaduna tribesmen have not come to terms with the contemporary fact that the era of violence and brutality as solutions to solving problems have since been phased out to be replaced by advanced discussions, dialogues and shifting grounds in order to accommodate other tribal groups with opposing views.

The statement reminded SOKAPU that the Fulani herdsmen have equal rights of indigene and absolute rights of settlement at where ever place that is legally allowed for human habitation.

It  informed SOKAPU and those it called their sponsors hiding in the dark that the Fulani tribes and clans are here to emphatically say that they are more indigenous, more patriotic, more industrious and much more resilient than them.

On the accusations of the arrest of some elders with emphasis on one 85 years old man,  MACBAN said  “it is revealing that the said 85 years old man is an old soldier who has been tactically and strategically involved in the training and indoctrination of some of their militias in the deep jungle of southern Kaduna” the statement alleged.

PRESS RELEASE

SOKAPU AND ITS FREQUENT PRESS RELEASES; END OF THE ROAD!!!“

There is a limit at which forbearance ceases to be a virtue” Edmund Burke Necessity has compelled us to respond to the Polemic, pejorative and unfortunate piece cum press releases always signed by its usual mouth piece Binniyat Luka.

It never ceases to disturb any right thinking, matured and progressive southern Kaduna various tribal groups, the incessant series of lies, unfortunate and dangerous misinformation and dangerous wrong signals against the government agencies and the Fulani herdsmen.

It appeals to our good emotions that SOKAPU has finally come to realize how powerful we are, that is why they could not conceptualize the exact figures of casualties and properties and homes destroyed or come average the number of people displaced.

It is like SOKAPU likes playing with rough figures and false numbers to gain sympathy and supports which is becoming a source of worried and concern among the good people of southern Kaduna. Blindly, the signatory to the press releases made very poor and feeble attempt of trying to subsidize the professional pedigree of Major General Dominic Onyemulu by claiming that his men at Operation Safe Haven “TRICKED” the “Atyap leaders”. For the sake of future references and mentions, the military is not a pretty body to be used for political bricks bats.

It does not need to trick some very few and irrelevant suspected individuals but only need to move in and arrest them if they were found to be culpable in the barbaric crimes they were said to have committed.

It has since come to pass that SOKAPU has never honored any pact on resolutions reached in southern Kaduna by the various groups which are concern about the wanton killings and wealth destructions in the area. SOKAPU’s concern is to blackmail security agencies and governments at all levels.

Moving forward, in regard to their accusations on the arrest of some “elders” with emphasis on one “85 years old man”, it is revealing that the said “85 years old man” is an old soldier who has being tactically and strategically involved in the training and indoctrination of some of their militias in the deep jungle of southern Kaduna.

And yet the leadership of SOKAPU who are solely acting on their own are shouting and crying wolf in spite of the brazen fact that some blood thirsty individuals have been organizing selective and strategic genocide of Fulani herdsmen over long period of time leading to the deaths of thousands of our tribesmen with collateral co-efficient.

As for the issue of Settlements question, there is no gain saying that the Fulani herdsmen have equal rights of indigene and absolute rights of Settlement at where ever place that is legally allowed for human habitation; and that is what they have been doing for more than five centuries without question or sign of crises until some group of people of southern Kaduna who are claiming ownership of lands and demonstrating Xenophobic mentality started raising eyebrows followed by destruction, cattle rustling, genocide; sending the remaining ones into various camps and unknown settlements across various axis empty handed and yet the likes of SOKAPU leaders and those who I believe only attended the school of remembering and not of critical thinking  have allowed themselves to be led into rushing to writing press releases in return for crumbs and shameful stipends from failed politicians.

Honourably, the Miyetti Allah and its members has been stoic, strong and continue to survive in painful silence with remarkable candour, the umbrella body have never attacked the state or security agencies and even the presidency which have all been doing everything within their powers at their disposal. We at the Miyetti Allah have appreciated every effort that has ever been made by the recognized and patriotic security agencies particularly the Operation Safe Haven headed by a professional and patriotic soldier in person of Major General Dominic Onyemulu and other security agencies operating in the area with government at all levels.

Emphatically, we want to register in strong terms to SOKAPU and their sponsors who are hiding in the dark that the Fulani tribes and clans are here to stay:- we are more indigenous, more patriotic, more industrious and much more resilient than them.

SOKAPU as a group still living and thinking behind civilization, the southern Kaduna tribesmen have not come to terms with the contemporary fact that the era of violence and brutality as solutions to solving problems have since been phased out to be replaced by advanced discussions, dialogues and shifting grounds in order to accommodate other tribal groups with opposing views.

In terms of benefiting, the southern Kaduna tribesmen have benefited more than the Fulani in term of appointments at the state and federal level.

Few examples will suffice; Barrister Francis Koza, a Kataf by tribe was appointed as the Secretary Kaduna State House of Assembly Service Commission after serving as the Company Secretary of Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service when his tenure elapsed. While at the National level, Prof. AK Usman a tribesman of Kataf origin is holding a lucrative National appointment as Executive Chairman Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), yet in their Biblical ingratitude, they never appreciated such laudable appointments of their tribesmen but rather they are always on the media raising a stained banner with the ironical inscription of marginalization.

X- raying APC Caretaker Committee Eleven Months After Inauguration

0

By Abba Dukawa

In my widely published article by many print and online medium titled:Tasks before APC caretaker committee in June 2020 I had illustrated some of the challenges before Governor Buni’s led committee which requires firmed and cleared decisions that would be in the best interest of the party. Some of the issues raised was for the caretaker committee to sustain lasting unity, peace and true reconciliation across party ranks.

At that time I had emphasized on the need for APC caretaker Committee as a matter of urgency to chart a new course with renewed commitment and dedication among the party members that would make the party to be more strong with the emblem of internal democracy and mutual understanding among leaders and other stakeholders.

Before APC Caretaker/ Convention Planning Committee constituted, former National Working Committee of the party led by Adams Oshiomhole crippled with serious leadership crisis. As result of this internal party crisis the fortunes of the party drastically reduced by seven states Oyo, Bauchi, Adamawa, Sokoto, Benue, Zamfara and Edo. in addition to a badly managed governorship election victory Bayelsa state.

Dissolving former APC NWC rally saved the party from serious internal crisis as members had expressed hope that peace would be restored to the party after the protracted leadership crisis both at the national and various State chapters of the party.

Eleven months after the Inauguration of Caretaker Convention Committee led by Yobe state Governo Buni , there is no doubt the Committee has retrieved the party from an imminent collapse at same time breaking the jinx in revalidation of party membership registration exercise which made the ruling party to have a comprehensive membership register.

Without much wasted times, Governor Mai Mala Buni as stabilizing Caretaker Committee met all national leaders and other party stakeholders in order to accommodate all interests in renewal commitment toward strengthening the ruling party to remain the largest political party in Africa. This act of commitments demonstrated by the caretakers members has resulted in renewed commitment on the part of party members. Without mincing words, it is an understatement to say life has returned to the party considering bubbling nature of a once abandoned ruling party national secretariat.

The caretaker committee’s abulity to chart a new course for the party has started yielding positive result because the committee was able to wooing Governors of Ebonyi State and that of Cross River state.

During Ondo state governorship election APC caretaker/extra-ordinary Convention Committee reconciled all the governorship aspirants in the state. All the aspirants were brought together, and campaigned for the successful re-election of Governor Rotimi.

It is commendable that Caretaker Committee has brought back many aggrieved party members and also reconciled prominent party members from the South South like Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva, Sen. Godswill Akpabio, Obong Nsima Ekere, Mr. Umana O. Umana, Sen. Ita Enang, Barr. Bassey Dan Abia (Snr) both have resolved their differences in favour of party interest in the collective pursuit of party interests particularly in the South-South geo-political zone.

Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee also received many bigwigs of opposition PDP members that joined APC or back to the party among them are the chairman Atiku Abubakar Presidential campaign organisation former Ogun State Governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel and and Lt. Gen. Ihejirika joined APC. Others joined the APC, two former speakers of House of Representatives – Yakubu Dogara and Dimeji Bankole. Barnabas Gemade former PDP chairman among others.

Infact Governor Mai Mala Buni has brought together all contending interests under one roof and achieved true reconciliation across 36 states and FCT.

All these success stories of APC caretaker/extra-ordinary Convention Committee efforts are commendable.
The most aspect of the works was thst it was able to Instil Party discipline, and party cohesion which has become a sacrosanct and imbibed by members both high and low. Before then, there was no Party discipline the mighty members could do and undo.

In spite of these achievements however, Nigerians expect Governor Buni and other members to remain team players at its critical stage of they assignment not to allow certain individual to highjack the party during and after the convention.

Like you all know the real job of getting things done properly is what is important for the Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee to conduct a credible and acceptable Convention devoid of any complaints of exclusion and possible litigation during and after the convention.

So far, so good, Eleven months after, the Inauguration of Caretaker/Extra-Ordinary Convention Committee alot has been achieved . Despite that, there is still need to organize National Convention of the party that will usher in elections of National Working Committee of the party in line with party constitution provisions.

Trip To The First Tangale Church Site: The Mission, The Experience And Its Significance

0

By Rev Mela Adamu Tal

Events in recent past raised lot of concern for the church in Tangale Nation.

For me, it was more worrisome, because in November 2016, the Lord began to give me signal that the Church in Tangale land is under systemic and spiritual attack.

The Spirit of the Lord said to me, there’s a subtle approach to override the Church in Tangale land. Not, quite long, in the same year, that was confirmed by an incident I am not at liberty to bring to public glare at this time.

But God clearly open my heart to know that the Tangale people were meant to be protected from infiltration by its adversaries. However, the Church had become too cold in advancing the cause for which he spared the Tangale man from the spears of the Jihadists, and left them for himself, a remnant. That, he confirmed with Lamentation 4: 12-13, “The kings of the earth, and all inhabitants of the world would not have believed that the adversary and the enemy could enter the gates of Jerusalem….

Recent event of who becomes the next ‘Mai Tangle’ confirmed how vulnerable the Church in Tangale land has become. Be that as it may, it became a redefining event in history from the foregoing.

The Church in Tangale land has an interesting history. It’s a Church birthed out of intense prayers.

For you to understand this mission to the first Tangale Church and why there. It’s good we go over the brief history of the missionaries and how the Tangale people were reached, with eventual birth if the first Church in Tangale land.

Very Synoptic History of Christian Missionaries into Tangale land.

May,1893 in Canada, Rowland Bingham who originally was from England met with Mrs Gowans who had a serious burden for Africa and was earnestly praying for her son Walter Gowan who had already made up his mind to go to the dark land as a missionary. Their discussion ended up getting Bingham making up his mind to meet Walter in England. On his way back to England Walter in the ship met another young man named Tom Kent who had been a college friend of Walter at Missionary Institute in New York City. Tom equally cued into the call to the Sudan.

Walter, Tom and Bingham left England to Lagos via ship on November 4,1893. By the end of November,1894, Tom and Walter who soared into the hinterland leaving Bingham behind in Lagos died due to mysterious sicknesses.

Bingham went back to Canada after sometime to mobilize more MISSIONARIES. He did not give up. In February,1900 Bingham led another team of missionaries to Africa This 2nd attempt was a virtual failure more than the first one because, Bingham nearly died due to malaria immediately they landed in Lagos. As Bingham was deported back to England, the others became heart-fainted and also left for England.

The breakthrough into TANGALE LAND was made possible in 1915 when Bingham came to Nigeria for the 3rd time. Bingham, Andrew Stirret & Norman Davies were to make it into the TANGALE land but eventually Norman could not make it because he came down with a serious bad case of diarrhoea. Around August,1915, Bingham and Andrew Stirret entered into TANGALE land through Kaltungo peacefully without resistance of any sort.

In 1918, after the first world war, two young bright men, John Hall and Gordon Beacham presented themselves as missionaries into TANGALE land. They left immediately. They first landed in Kaltungo and through Beacham, the first convert “KARGA” who used to look after sheep/goats in the outer village of Kaltungo was realized.

KARGA later became the first indigenous pastor.

Much later, Rev. Harling also a missionary from Canada specifically for the TANGALE from Billiri arrived.

The early believers from Billiri include Rev. Paulo Aliyu, Ne Lamunje, Iliyasu Maiyamba (who later became Mai Tangle), Mal. Manjo from Tal, and host of others.

The first Christian marriage contracted by Rev. Harling (Pobe) was between Paulo Aliyu and Ne Lamunje.”

On that Heel:

  1. We can see the Church came to Tangle through intense heartfelt prayer concerns to reach the dark lands in Africa. Tangale land happen to be a benefactor.
  2. Those missionaries jeopardised their lives. Some lost their lives along the way, to come bring light of the gospel to our people.

THE RECENT MISSION could only be said to be orchestrated by God himself, who first stirred up the heart of Danladi Bako to mobilise all retiree ministers of the gospel to go intercede for ‘Tangale Maidom’ as result of vivid tactical schemes by elements of imperialism, who believe they can use instruments of governance at their disposal to silence the voice of the gospel.

For me, Easter Monday 2021 impresses indelible experience. As we converged with this veterans Pastors and community leaders up the hill, where the first Church began.

This was also at the instance of the retirees, all ministers of the gospel available, regardless of denomination; championed by same Danladi Bako, with maximum support of CAN, Billiri LGA.

The mission was for us to pray for Tangale land. We had three main prayer focus:

  1. Prayer of repentance
  2. Prayer for the ‘Maidom’
  3. Prayers for revival, that the tears, sacrifice and labour of those Missionaries and early converts shall not be in vain.

For me, the greatest spiritual experience was the sense of connection with the Spirit and heart of those missionaries and early Church leaders of Tangale descent.

Baba Rev. Dr Siman Ibrahim gave the exhortation. Charging each and every one to rise from slumber and embrace the ways of truth and spirituality.

At the end, a resolution was affirmed to rebuild the first Church building into a wailing house and wall, where people could go and unburden their hearts before the Lord.

Mrs Lakadyabe also called attention to fact that, we are not fighting in favour of idolatry or the Tangale goddess.

“Our concern is for the sake and name of Jesus Christ,” and urged our people to take a stand with Christ alone, who is able to deliver, revive and restore the dignity, glory and honour of the Tangale nation.

Thereafter, a live transmitted prayer session tagged ” SUNRISE TANGALE ” was convened by Rev Mela Adamu Tal on the 7th of March, 2021. This was followed with the first Night vigil at the instance of Rev. John Tachi, all on the ground of same first Tangale Church building at ‘Kumma Tangle’.

For me, one can boldly say, a reawakening has come upon not only Tangale people, but the entire Gombe south. The injustice only affirmed Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

I am also sure, with the Spiritual awakening in Tangale Nation, whatever other battle and scheming of men to relegate the identity of the Tangale nation, who are predominantly believers in Christ will be taken care of, by Jehovah, who says in II Corinthians 10:3-6 “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh.

For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.

Nigeria: Northern Group Backs Southern Governors on Open Grazing, National Dialogue

0
National Chairman of Northern Youth Leaders Forum (NYLF), Elliot Afiyo

By Iliya Kure

A coalition of groups from northern Nigeria, Northern Youth Leaders Forum (NYLF) has expressed support on position of Southern Governors’ Forum, banning open grazing in the southern region.

“We want to state clearly that open grazing has been the greatest threat to the environment of the Northern region and also a major threat to security of lives and property in the entire country,” said National Chairman of the Forum, Elliot Afiyo, while addressing journalists, shortly after the Forum’s 27th Annual Delegates Conference in Yola, northeast Nigeria.

He also said that having extensively studied the communique issued by the Southern Governors, national dialogue was also a necessity, considering the clamour and demands for restructuring and secessions.

“But we are totally opposed to the use of 2014 Constitutional Conference Report because to us generally in the North, the Report lacks credibility due to the fact that the Delegates especially from the northern part of the country, were hand-picked based on agreements of loyalty.

“To this end, the NYLF during our special delegates conference resolved to totally support the call for national dialogue and ban on open grazing,” Afiyo said.

The group called on the Federal Government to as a matter of urgency and national interest consider these calls and act on them.

“In order to enforce completely the ban on open grazing, we call for the establishment of Herder’s Commission or Agency to cater for the needs of the herders through selective programmes so as to effectively Kick-Start the ranching system.

“We also condemn the statement credited to the Attorney General of the Federation on the ban on open grazing and also appeal to the President to caution his Ministers and Aides, who despite being in government for either four to six years, are still having the opposition mentality,” he added.

Afiyo explained that the conference was expected to announce its Presidential choice for 2023, but has shelved that for a later date, following the tragic plane crash that killed the Chief of Army Staff alongside other top officers on Friday.

“The death of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru who happened to be a brother to our first National Chairman, which also claimed the lives of two of our members, Major Hamza and Major Hayat coupled with the security report at our disposal on the plans by two other presidential hopefuls to cause crisis if peradventure we eventually endorse and announce our own candidate for 2023 presidential elections, we decided for the sake of peace and in honour of our departed elders and colleagues, to shift the endorsement to the 5th of June, 2021, at Abuja,” he said.

On the Ill-fated plane crash, “We received with disbelief and astonishment the news of a plane crash which claimed the lives of officers of the Nigerian Army and Airforce including that of the Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru.

“We sincerely and honestly frowned at the manner and rate of these plane crashes,” the group lamented.

The group called for the immediate composition of an independent investigative panel, to ascertain the remote cause(s) of the plane crash and the Report be made public.

Nigeria: Immunisation Stakeholders In Northwest To Provide More Enabling Environment For Success, Scale Up

NI-ABAE Stakeholder meeting in Kano

By Iliya Kure

Stakeholders on Immunisation from three states of Jigawa, Katsina and Zamfara have resolved to ensuring provision of adequate vaccines and strengthening routine Immunisation in their respective states.

They have also committed to ensuring accountability and discipline among health workers, as well as periodic assessment and improvement of the cold chain system to ensure vaccine efficacy.

They made the commitment at a joint stakeholder review meeting in Kano, organised by a Non-Governmental Organisation, New Incentives – All Babies Are Equal Initiative (NI-ABAE), in collaboration with the three states.

In a communique signed by Katsina State Commissioner for Health, Yakubu Nuhu, Zamfara State Commissioner for Health, Yahaya Kanoma, representative of Permanent Secretary of Jigawa State Ministry of Health, Kabir Ibrahim, among others, the participants agree to work closely together for wider immunisation coverage in the Northwest region of the country.

Speaking with journalists, Katsina State Commissioner for Health, Yakubu Nuhu, who lauded the innovative approach of NI-ABAE in promoting immunisation in the region said, the effort was yielding positive results.

“We’ve seen some changes in the indices, by giving just a token of N500 to mothers for each of the first four immunisations, and a token of N2,000 during the fifth immunisation. It had boosted the morale of mothers who are now bringing their babies for immunisation.

“There has been a 30% increase in the rate at which women seek for immunisation for their children, as well as seeking Antenatal Care (ANC). Also, there is need for a sustainability plan for this program in order to encourage women to continuously seek for antenatal care and also bring their children for immunisation,” he said.

The Commissioner who pledged the support of his Ministry in all programmes of NI-ABAE in the state, added that Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina State has personally demonstrated commitment and interest on the programme by becoming its champion in the region.

Shedding more light, Zamfara State Commissioner for Health, Yahaya Kanoma, said the meeting focused on reviewing immunisation activities, as well as agreeing on steps towards attaining improved coverage in the three states.

“Advocacy and sensitisation in collaboration with relevant civic organisations and the media would ensure a wider reach. Traditional leaders and religious institution are key partners which would be leveraged on, in order to have more acceptance at the grass roots level,” Kanoma said.

The Commissioner also pledged to facilitate a meeting between the Governor of Zamfara State and NI-ABAE, as well as encourage the Governor to present the NI-ABAE programme gains and successes at the federal level.

In a remark, National Coordinator of NI-ABAE, Dr Obinna Ebirim described giving incentives to mothers who take their babies for immunization as a major tool in increasing the acceptability of vaccination by parents, especially at the grass root.

“Since the implementation of the program from 2017 in the selected states, about 300,000 beneficiaries have been enrolled and have received over N900m in direct cash disbursement, which have been monitored by our auditors, and other officials.

“Last year, we were in 98 clinics, but we recently moved to over 450 clinics in the states and hope to reach all local government areas in the states” Ebirim explained.

Speaking on objective of the joint stakeholders meeting, Mr Ebirim said, “we felt it is important to bring the stakeholders together and inform them about the successes, challenges and way forward.”

NI-ABAE works closely with State Ministries of Health (SMOHs), State Primary Health Care Development Agencies (SPHCDAs), and State Emergency Routine Immunisation Coordination Centres (SERICCs) in Jigawa, Katsina and Zamfara States to improve demand generation for routine immunisation and other supply-side supports for the routine immunisation system.

The Organisation disburses cash incentives to caregivers on conditions that infants receiving four vaccines, namely BCG (against tuberculosis), PENTA (against diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough, hepatitis B and Haemophilus influenzae type b), PCV (against pneumococcal disease), and MCV (against measles).

Upon confirmation of an infant receiving a vaccine, the caregiver receives ₦500 for the first four routine immunisation visits and ₦2,000 for the fifth visit. The cash transfers are meant to compensate for transport, lost trading income, and waiting time.

An independent impact assessment carried out on the CCTs for RI program (2017 – 2020) found that the program increases the likelihood that children would be fully immunised by 27 percentage points, and increases rates of individual vaccinations by 14 to 21 percentage points.

Aside immunisation, the assessment found that the program contributed to improved knowledge about vaccination among caregivers in the areas it served.

Based on successes recorded, NI-ABAE has secured additional $16.8 million of funding to reach over 600,000 caregivers and their infants over the next 3 years through more than 2,700,000 conditional cash transfers in at least 17 LGAs of Jigawa, Katsina and Zamfara States.

Kenya; Muturi’s Coronation Complicates Kenyatta’s Succession

0

By Joab Apollo

Kenya’s National Assembly Speaker Justine Muturi has been crowned as the new kingpin of the expansive Mount Kenya region, paving way for the political exit of President Uhuru Kenyatta, who in the lead up to the 2013 general election took the same mantle from retired President Mwai Kibaki.

Muturi, a long-time confidante of President Uhuru was controversially coronated on Saturday May 22 at the culturally symbolic Mukuruwe Nyagathanga shrine in Muranga, an exercise that has caused panic among key Kenyan politicians touted as heirs apparent to Kenyatta, whose term ends in 2022.

The ceremony affirms the long-held belief that Uhuru has reneged on his pledge to back his deputy, William Ruto, to be the 5th President of the Republic of Kenya, and sent shockwaves across former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s camp.

Trouble in the ruling Jubilee Party started in 2018 when he entered into a handshake deal with Odinga, his bitter rival in the last two presidential elections. Consequently, Ruto launched an all-out war against the famous Uhuru-Odinga ceasefire, seen by Odinga’s supporters as the handing over of the presidential baton to the veteran politician.

Aside from Odinga, there have also been speculation that Uhuru is Keen on propping up the evasive Gideon Moi, a personal friend, business ally and son to his political mentor, former President Daniel Arap Moi.

It is Moi who introduced Uhuru, son to his friend and founding President of Kenya Jomo Kenyatta, to politics, and it is firmly believed that time is ripe for Uhuru to return favour to the Mois.

But with the elevation of Muturi, political factions have gone to the drawing board as the castigation of Uhuru reaches fever pitch. Many believe the latest development is part of a well-oiled strategy by Uhuru to continue running the country by proxies upon his retirement.

“Through Coronation, Muturi is holding brief for Uhuru Kenyatta’s leadership of the GEMA communities before and after 2022. It will not only enslave GEMA, it will also destroy Kenya.” Said renowned political detainee and former Subukia Member of Parliament. GEMA is an abbreviation of the Gikuyu, Embu, Meru and Aembu communities forming the larger Mount Kenya region.

Influential Murang’a Governor Anne Waiguru also poured cold water on the ceremony, terming it an exercise in futility.

“The ceremony will not give him an upper hand because the pi of Mount Kenya never had cultural kingpins and spokespersons until the colonialists came and installed the generally unpopular “Paramount Chiefs” ” She said

Since independence, Kenya has had four presidents, with the Mount Kenya region producing three, Kenyatta, Kibaki and Uhuru. Moi hailed from the Kalenjin community. This has resulted into ethnic polarization with other 42 tribes ferociously demanding their share at the Presidency.

President Uhuru’s stint in leadership has been tainted with widespread corruption and mishandling of the COVID-19 Pandemic, leading persistent agitation for a revolution. He has, however, dismissed his detractors as self-seekers.

Early this year, he shocked the nation when he publicly said that time has come for a non-Kalenjin and a non-Kikuyu president.

0

Have anovernor Simon Lalong has expressed the deep condolences of the people and Government of Plateau State to the NASCO family over the passing of the founder of the Nasco Group of Companies, Dr. Ahmed Idris Nasreddin who died at the age of 96.

Governor Lalong in a message of commiseration described the passing of the patriarch of the NASCO family as a great loss not only to the family, but to people of Plateau State and Nigeria as a whole.

Lalong said the late Nasreddin was a visionary leader who established NASCO in Jos in 1963 as the first jute bag factory in Nigeria and sub-Saharan Africa, in response to the desire of the Nation’s founding fathers to meet the challenges for the effective bagging, storage and export of the large agricultural products from the country.

He said “This vision by the late Dr. Ahmed Idris Nasreddin saw the company growing from its little beginnings to become a major conglomerate with successful companies in manufacturing, real estate, hospitality and logistics, trading among others. NASCO has over the years remained a major employer of labour in Plateau State and continues to contribute to the economic prosperity of the State and Nigeria at large through tax revenue and corporate social responsibility”.

The Governor said because of the faith that the late Nasreddin had in Plateau State, NASCO remained rooted in the State throughout the difficult moments when the State witnessed crises that affected its development.

Governor Lalong while consoling the family, Management and Staff of the NASCO Conglomerate, said the legacies of the late business mogul will continue to prevail particularly when the company he founded many years ago is waxing stringer and being successfully run by his son, (Dr) Attia Nasreddin and other members of the family.

Lalong assured the NASCO family of the support and collaboration of the Plateau State Government as he prayed God to grant the soul of the deceased eternal rest and comfort the family.
