A Nigerian activist, and Director General, Centre for Justice on Religion and Ethnicity in Nigeria, Rev Kallamu Musa Ali Dikwa, has submitted a strong worded petition to United States President, Donald Trump on the killing of Nigerian Christians.

The letter dated 31 March 2025, addressed to the US President via US Embassy Plot 1075 Diplomatic Drive, Central District Area Abuja Nigeria, calls on President Trump to intervene in the killing of Nigerian Christians.

The content reviewed by our correspondent reveals statistics on the widespread of the killings. Below is the content of the letter;

31-March-2025,

His Excellency,

President Donald Trump,

United States of America USA,

C/O US Embassy Plot 1075 Diplomatic Drive, Central District Area Abuja Nigeria.

Your Excellency Sir.

REPORTS OF US CONGRESS ON NIGERIA ABOUT THE KILLINGS OF CHRISTIANS:

The US Congress has been scrutinizing Nigeria’s handling of Christian persecution, and it’s sparked a reaction from the Nigerian government. According to reports, the US House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Africa has approved measures to impose sanctions on Nigeria due to the widespread persecution of Christians.

The Nigerian government has rejected these reports, with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs describing them as a “misleading campaign” aimed at influencing foreign governments to designate Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern”.

However, lawmakers in the US Congress have condemned the Nigerian government for its failure to protect Christian communities from escalating violence, citing alarming data from multiple human rights organizations. Some of the alarming statistics include: – Christian Deaths: A 2024 report revealed that Nigeria accounted for 90% of all Christians killed globally each year ¹. –

Abductions and Killings: Between October 2019 and September 2023, at least 55,910 people were killed, and 21,000 others were abducted by terrorist groups operating in the country. – Attacks on Churches: Violent assaults on churches and their congregations are reportedly carried out on a near-weekly basis in northern and central Nigeria. These statistics have led to calls for the US government to take action, with some lawmakers urging President Trump to impose sanctions on Nigeria. The Nigerian government’s response to the US Congress report on the killing of Christians in Nigeria has been dismissive, but it’s hard to deny the overwhelming evidence. The US House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Africa’s report highlighted the alarming scale of violence against Christians, with at least 55,910 people killed and 21,000 others abducted by terrorist groups between October 2019 and September 2023. The report also cited a staggering statistic from the Observatory for Religious Freedom in Africa, which found that Nigerians accounted for 90% of all Christians killed worldwide each year. This is a stark reminder that the violence in Nigeria is not just a domestic issue, but a global concern. The introduction of Sharia law in Nigeria in 2001 was a highly controversial and violent process. Former Governor of Zamfara State, Sani Yarima Bakura, a member of the Izala Islamic group, played a key role in introducing Sharia law in his state. This move was met with fierce resistance from Christians in Kaduna State, who protested against the implementation of Sharia law. Unfortunately, these protests turned deadly, with hundreds of Christians killed in the violence. Other states, including Kano, Kebbi, Sokoto, and Zamfara, also witnessed significant violence against Christians. The crisis was further complicated by the fact that Nigeria’s federal government, led by President Olusegun Obasanjo, seemed reluctant to intervene.

…As a born-again Christian, Obasanjo’s inaction was seen as a failure to protect his fellow Christians. The introduction of Sharia law in Nigeria had far-reaching consequences, exacerbating religious tensions and leading to widespread human rights abuses. The violence that erupted in 2001 was just the beginning of a longer period of instability and bloodshed. The Muslims started attacking and killing Christians in Jos, the Plateau State capital, and to date, they have continued to kill Christians in their villages in Plateau State, using the Fulani herdsmen. In Benue, Nasarawa States, and Southern Kaduna, Christians are killed every day. In Borno State, the Boko Haram insurgents were created to target Christians. On February 18, 2006, the Boko Haram terrorist group burnt down 56 churches, killing over 200 Christians, including men, women, and children. They also burnt down shops and houses belonging to Christians. The second attack by Boko Haram terrorists occurred in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, on July 9, 2009. Up to 30 churches were burnt down, and over 70 Christians were killed. During the 2011 presidential elections, hundreds of Christians were killed, and many churches were burnt down in Adamawa, Bauchi, Gombe, and almost all the northern states. Northern Muslim political leaders, traditional rulers, and Islamic scholars seemed to condone the killing of Christians, implicitly supporting the perpetrators. These leaders deceived the perpetrators, backing them until the United States declared Boko Haram a terrorist group. Only then did the political leaders, traditional rulers, and Islamic scholars secretly withdraw their open support. All the Islamic Izala aid group scholars have already declared war against Christians in Nigeria since 2001 to date. We have written a letter titled “Open Letter to the Senate President: My Suggestion on How to Tackle Boko Haram” to the then President of the Senate, Distinguished Senator David A.B. Mark, GCON, dated 17 June, 2011. The letter carried the names of the sponsors of Boko Haram and detailed information on how they were sponsoring the group, along with 6 VCDs. The Office of the Senate President replied to my letter, dated February 29, 2012; the letter is attached. Another letter titled “Lectures by Islamic Scholars in Nigeria to Hate and Make War on Christians in the Country” was written to the same President of the Senate, dated July 4, 2012. On November 21, 2011, another letter titled “Why Boko Haram Should Be Listed as a Terrorist Group by the United States” was written. Despite these letters, no action has been taken because Nigerian Muslim political leaders, traditional rulers, and some so-called Christian politicians seem to be condoning the killing of Christians in the country. Christians are being targeted and killed by Muslims in a prepared jihad. During the 2023 Presidential Election, the agenda of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was purely targeted against Christians in the country. This was why they used a Muslim-Muslim ticket and manipulated the election, which was not a genuine win. Our under-aged Christian girls, aged 12-17 years, are always targeted for abduction and forced conversion to Islam, and then married off to Muslims against their will. We have all the facts about the abduction of under-aged Christian girls by traditional rulers and government officials, who use their political power to intimidate and harass the poor parents of these girls. Leah Sharibu’s case is indeed a distressing one. In 2018, she was among the Dapchi schoolgirls abducted by the ISWAP terrorist group in Yobe State. While the Muslim girls were released two days later, Leah, a Christian, was held back for refusing to renounce her faith. There have been reports that Leah has been married off to one of the commanders and has given birth to two children. However, these reports are unverified, and her parents have yet to see or hear from her directly. It’s worth noting that Leah’s family and supporters are calling for her release and rescue. They are urging the Nigerian government and international authorities to take action. Sir we look forward to your prompt attention to re-address this great injustice meted to Nigeria Citizens in total violation of their inherent rights enshrined in the constitution of the federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended We have attached all the relevant documents for your reference.

Thank You

Yours Faithfully Rev Kallamu Musa Ali Dikwa, Director General Centre for Justice on Religion and Ethnicity in Nigeria.08033497229, 08025510331.

Nigeria: Allege Abduction, Forceful Islamization Of Christian Underage Girl Sparks Outrage

By Achadu Gabriel

The allegations of abduction and forceful Islamization of Christian underaged girl in Yola, Adamawa state, has sparked up outrage by some Christian Leaders and spread to northwest states in areas predominantly Christians.

Already, a written public complaint against the action has been made available newsmen by a Christian Leader in northern Nigeria, threatening to follow the matter to ensure justice is achieved for the mother of the minor.

The complaints entitled “Abduction and forceful Islamization of a Christian Minor in Jambutu, Jimeta-Yola, Adamawa state, under the watch of Wakili mai jimilan Jambutu and Magistrate Court”, was released weekend.

The report signed by Rev. David Ayuba Azzaman, a preacher and Christian Activist in Kaduna northwest, Nigeria, emphasized that Christians will pursue the matter to its conclusion.

Widely known and addressed as Azzaman, Azzaman, the Christian Activist stated “Today we are saddened again with another unfortunate story of Islamic intimidation, forceful abduction, and forced Islamization of another Christian teenage girl, Miss Georgia Miracle.

“She is an orphan child who lost her father in 2015, when she was six years old. she was brought up by her widowed mother, Mrs Haina Miracle, who struggled through pains and lack to bring up Georgia, from childhood to this teenage level.

“She burst into tears when she said, bringing up Georgia as a single mother, ten years after my husband’s death was a nightmare, I wished nobody encountered in life. She said she struggled to keep restaurant business flowing in order to meet the demands of livelihood.

“I struggled with my daughter without any external assistance from Primary to Secondary School; school fees, clothing, feeding, and medical bills were quite frustrating. my moments of silence were filled with tears and depression, but I hid it from my daughter and those around me.

“Mrs Haina Miracle said she enrolled her daughter to learn tailoring under a Muslim young man, Auwal Salihu, close to where she operates her restaurant. Due to low patronage, as a result of the Ramadan season, Mrs Haina Miracle (Georgia’s mother) put a paused to her business, and since then, report kept coming to her that her daughter Georgia, doesn’t stay in the tailoring shop, rather she disappears and comes back home by evening time.

“Out of annoyance, her mother stops her from going to the tailoring shop, she asked her to wait until after Ramadan, when she will be in the shop to observe her movement. The moment Georgia heard this, she got annoyed and left home on Thursday, the 13th of March, 2025.

“On Saturday, 15th of March 2025, barely three days after the disappearance of my daughter, the Wakili mai jimilan Jambutu, mallam Abubakar Nuhu, came to my house and said my attention is needed at the court on Monday, 17th March 2025, over the case of my missing daughter, so he said I should come over to the court for hearing, and he added that I should not come alone, I should come along with my brother.

“According to them, it was my 16 years old daughter that sued me to the court. When the presiding Magistrate, Abubakar Diddat asked my daughter to say what happened, my daughter said, she wants to marry and she wants to Islamize, but I, her mother, is stopping her from doing so.

“The magistrate was furious, he said that wasn’t the report you gave to this court, you said your mother beat you and burnt your clothes and threaten to kill you because you want to Islamize and marry a Muslim boy, so she kicked you out of home, was that what you told me?

“My daughter was quiet. the Magistrate out of anger, asked her to leave the courtroom, I told him that my daughter has never discussed the issue of Marriage and Islamization to me.

At last, we were advised to go home and settle the matter between Christian and Muslim elders.

“We met in the house of the Wakili mai jimila, on Wednesday, 19TH 2025, who told me that my daughter has converted to Islam and it is her right to choose the religion she wanted. Members of Adamawa Concern Citizens, who were predominantly Muslims, headed by Gambo Nakuru, said they were the ones who Islamized my daughter because she said she wants to accept Islam, I went on to tell them that, my daughter will not Islamize, and she won’t marry a Muslim because she is still a minor, she is not up to the legal age to decide for herself.

“Hajiya Aisha, who is keeping my daughter in custody, said, who told you that? They have been Islamizing and marrying out girls under 18 years old; my daughter’s case will not be exceptional. It ended in fierce debate and disagreement, so we were asked to return to the court today.

I want justice. I am a widow and a single mother who struggled all alone to fend for her daughter, I don’t have the strength to fight this battle alone.

“Prominent Muslim personalities converged against me to take my daughter away from me and to forcefully change her religion. I am appealing to people of good conscience to come to my aid.

“We Will Get to The End of This In Jesus Christ Glorious Name AMEN. Rev. Davaid Ayuba Azzaman”, it stated.

Nigeria: Experts Call For Increased Yam Export, Trade Growth

0

By Martha Agas

The World Trade Centre, Abuja, has expressed concern that although Nigeria accounts for over 70 per cent of global yam production, its export rate remains at just 11 per cent.

The Head of Trade Services, Mr David Oke, speaking at the sixth edition of LinkedIn Local Abuja, encouraged young entrepreneurs to leverage Nigeria’s yam export potential

The theme of the sixth edition focused on ‘Multidimensional Intelligence for Career Prosperity.’

Oke, speaking on business intelligence, urged young people to conduct thorough research and seize available opportunities to build sustainable wealth, noting that government alone cannot solve all challenges.

“So how can we begin to leverage that (yam production) if we are producing that much?

“Can we export more? Can we get people from Benue and other yam-producing states to package it for the export market?

“Can we fix our standardisation problem? The same issue applies to fish, vegetables, sesame seeds, and many other products that can drive national development,” he said.

He noted that the Nigerian diaspora community is rapidly growing, making the country’s food and fashion more familiar to people in Australia, London, and other parts of the world.

According to him, Africa is the next frontier for global trade, and Nigeria must leverage its human capital by engaging young people in international trade.

The government, he said, has various programmes and policies, such as the ECOWAS Trade Liberalisation Scheme (ETLS) and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) protocols, that youths can utilise for trade.

In his remarks, the convener of the event, Mr Fife Banks, described the programme as a platform for professional networking and learning experiences to boost careers and businesses.

Banks said the topics discussed — including emotional, artificial, business, financial, and spiritual intelligence—were selected for their importance in helping professionals and leaders excel.

“We realised that it’s crucial to acquire and apply knowledge.

“LinkedIn Local Abuja has become the city’s biggest professional networking event, creating opportunities for people to connect.

“To network, make deals happen, forge meaningful connections, advance careers, and thrive in business,” he said.

According to him, Nigerian entrepreneurs and professionals need more collaboration to achieve greater results in their businesses, despite industry competitiveness.

“Imagine if every Nigerian innovation received nationwide online support. Consider the global impact that could have,” he said.

Speaking on emotional intelligence, Dr Elsie Nemieboka, a Human Resources Specialist and Psychologist, highlighted the need for mental toughness in workplaces to help workers navigate organisational politics.

Nemieboka explained that mental toughness involves persistence and determination, regardless of obstacles, to achieve set goals, even when efforts go unrecognised. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)

Tumultuous Welcome Home As Kogi Central Stands Still For Sen. Natasha, Defies Emergency Ban

4

Despite the ban on convoys, rallies and congregations announced by the Kogi State government on Monday, March 31, 2025 and an emergency curfew targeted at stopping her scheduled homecoming, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan on Tuesday rubbished all security measures put in place to prevent her planned visit.

This is as her country home situated at Ihima area of Okene town in Kogi Central Senatorial district was agog with an unprecedented crowd that besieged the area to accord their Senator the deserved welcome.

Information pieced together also indicated that while some political thugs were allegedly sponsored and positioned in strategic points through all road accesses into Kogi particularly the Abuja-Lokoja highway, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan surprisingly landed in her compound in a helicopter, a development that saw her constituents and supporters spontaneously brimming in wild jubilation and rendering of songs of welcome.

An eyewitness account stated on social media thus; “I live at a close distance to Natasha’s house. She has a very large compound that can take hundreds of people.

“In my opinion, all the activities going on are within her expanded mansion. I really do not see any reason for (any) attack so long all her fans do not go to the extreme.

“At the same time, the situation is not as ugly as being painted outside. They may have advised her to remain within her jurisdiction to prevent outsiders from using her home coming to create violence in central.

“In all honesty, I still see some level of good character from the government of the day. Unless something happens later today, I can say everything is smooth and fine.

“I see security personnel going everywhere peacefully without harassing anybody. I am reporting from a close distance.

“Though, I could see a helicopter hovering around her house possibly she is now flying back to her base. Peace will reign by the grace of God in Kogi state,” he said.

Information pieced together indicated that Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who succeeded in demonstrating to Nigerians the massive support she enjoyed amongst her constituents, successfully beat all security measures put in place to prevent her from visiting her home as she flew a helicopter into her country home in Kogi Central.

The Senator who had wanted to address the people inside her compound was prevailed upon to move outside in order have a feel of the people that thronged her home to give her a rousing welcome.

The development is believed to have sent some shocking jitters into the spines of the political leaders in Kogi State that put everything in place including a sudden curfew to prevent the people from coming out.

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan did not only host a successful rally in her expansive premises, but also had the opportunity of interacting with some key stakeholders and members of her constituency.

Kogi Forum Sends Emissary To Ata Igala Over Alleged Plan To Impose Emirate System On Lokoja

2

A religious body, Kogi East Christian Elders Forum has resolved to send a Seven member committee to His Royal Majesty, the Ata Igala to clarify alleged plan by some suspected expansionists to impose emirate system on Lokoja which was under the Igala kingdom and  never captured by Jihad or any other struggle.

It also wonders about the word KOGI with which the area is being identified, saying it is alien to Igala Kingdom.
The Forum also frowned at the carting away of mineral resources on daily basis from the land with no attached economic benefits to the inhabitants.

In a Communique issued in Kaduna after its annual national prayer Congress in Okpo, Headquarters of Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State recently, the Forum calls for an urgent need to address the non observance of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) by the mining companies.
The Communique which also condemned the cycle of violence and regular brutal killings of promising youths in the land,  x-rayed the economic potential and called for youth empowerment using agriculture as pivotal to engage them in meaningful employment.
The Communique signed by the Forum’s National President, Pst Joseph Egwuda and the National Secretary, Elder Joel Usman Dagono calls for the establishment of a Cashew nuts management board to address wastages and increase income for the farmers.
The Congress calls for the damming of River Niger around Ibaji area for economic benefits and mitigate the erosion in the area which supposed to be the Dubai of Nigeria.
It also calls for prayers for governmental intervention over a situation where most government establishments including Schools are closed down during fasting.
Other resolutions adopted at the Congress include, the registration of the Forum with Corporate Affairs Commission, (CAC) the appointment of a Nine member board of trustees as well as the National Secretary.
While dissolving the Dekina Local Government Area Excos of the Forum and appointing an interim committee, the Congress directed the National Treasurer to coordinate activities of the Forum in the local government areas.
The Congress themed ” Kogi East Christian Elders Forum: The Journey So Far, Now Turn and Move”, Deuteronomy 2:1-3 encourages members to move in the right direction for positive results and never should they remain onlookers but participants in both religious and political  institutions for a better Nigeria.
