Luka Binniyat, a Kaduna based Journalist in northern Nigeria, was on Thursday granted bail by a Kaduna High Court over alleged false publication brought against him by the Kaduna State government.
Presided by Justice Bashir Sukola, Mr. Binniyat was remanded in prison since Wednesday, 12th July, 2017, was given stringent bail conditions.
Justice Bashir Sukola while reading the bail conditions, said two sureties are to deposit their international passports with the court, N10m each and a bank bond to that effect to the amount of money pending the duration of the case.
He however adjourned the case till Thursday, 31st August, 2017.
Reacting to bail, the leading counsel to the accused, Alex Marama, expressed shock with the conditions given and assured that they were going to appeal demanding for the reduction of the bail conditions.
Mr. Binniyat, who had been on medication, still walked into the court room with the help of crutches to make

appearance having sustained injuries from an accident.
The Kaduna State government had dragged the Journalist to court on two count charges over publication in Vanguard Newspaper of alleged killings of five students of College of Education Gidan-Waya published on 22nd January, 2017.
The Journalist is been charged of breach of public peace and injurious falsehood punishable under sections 114 and 393 of the penal code laws of Kaduna State.
Mr. Binniyat could not meet the bail condition, and had to be taken back to prison custody.

Gombe (Nigeria) — Travellers plying the Gombe-Yola road in northeast Nigeria were on Wednesday stranded for several hours, as hundreds of women from Kaltungo and Shongom local government areas of Gombe State blocked the road in protest.


Nigeria’s Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo has ordered further security reinforcements in Kaduna State following reports of communal clashes that resulted in the loss of lives earlier this week in Kajuru – Kajuru Local Government Area of the State – northwest Nigeria.
The Kaduna state Police command has confirmed the killings of 32 persons mostly women and children in the recent clashes between villagers and herdsmen in Kajuru Local Government Area of the state in northwestern Nigeria. They also said peace has been restored in the area.
A librarian with Library Board of Kaduna State, northern Nigeria, Mohammed Sabiu Danbala, has observed that to reduce ignorance and poverty in Nigeria, the youths must desist from the distraction and gradual derail from serious learning activities and reading values being demonstrated in the form of love for electronic gadgets.
