Police Minister Bheki Cele has called on all organisations to demonstrate their resolve to end violence against women and children by joining this important cause
Police Minister Bheki Cele and 100 police cadets have pledged their support and will be participating in the #100MenMarch that will take place in Tshwane on Tuesday.
“The scourge of violence against women and children is a huge threat to our development as a nation. On average, one in five South African women older than 18 has experienced physical violence,” the Minister said in a statement on Monday.
Government Communication and Information System (GCIS) launched the #100MenMarch, calling on men to take a stand against the abuse of women and children.
The march forms part of the centenary celebrations of former President Nelson Mandela and struggle stalwart Mama Albertina Sisulu, who both committed their lives to the fight for human rights, particularly for women and children.
Cele called on all organisations to demonstrate their resolve to ending violence against women and children by joining this important cause.
The Minister will be addressing the event as part of the main program pledging support to stop violence against women and children.
Already he has declared to prioritize and intensify the fight on crimes against women, children and the vulnerable groups when he tabled the SAPS Budget Vote in Parliament in May.
According to Statistics South Africa, the country has seen a 117% increase in cases of gender-based violence between 2015 and 2016/17. – SAnews.gov.za
Mr David Young, Deputy Chief of Mission, U.S. Embassy in Nigeria has condoled with the people of Plateau, Northcentral Nigeria over the recent killings in the state.
Young, who extended his country condolence on Monday in Jos when he visited Gov. Simon Lalong, urged Nigerians to embrace peace and promote unity in the country.
He emphasised the need for the people to speak peace and work ways to ensure that the realisation of and affirm the need for peaceful coexistence among them.
The deputy chief of mission said that life was sacred, irrespective of who and where the citizens might belong.
“Life is sacred, whether herdsmen or farmers, Christian or Muslim or whatever ethnic.
“The violence should be a major concern to both the State and Federal Government and must be addressed adequately.
“There is the need to put more efforts toward ending this menace in the country,’’ he said.
Young stressed the need for the promotion of interfaith and interethnic dialogues to address causes of violence.
He, however, urged government to apprehend criminals perpetrating the act across the country.
Receiving Young, Lalong commended the American Embassy for the show of concern over the ugly situation in the state.
He said the recent incident that led to the loss of lives reminded the state government on the need to review its security structure.
The governor assured that the state government would continue to work to ensure that Plateau remains the home of peace and tourism.

A detribalized Nigerian with Ibo parents who can as well claim to be a Northerner as she was born at the Specialist Hospital situated in Jimeta-Yola the State capital of Adamawa State in the North Eastern region of Nigeria. Monica who hails from Uburu in Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State is the first child of Chief and Evang. (Mrs.) Augustine Eze.
According to her records, she started her Nursery and Primary School at the famous Abti International Nursery /Primary School, Yola and proceeded to Federal University of Technology Secondary School Yola where she got her Senior Secondary School Certificate in 2008. A graduate of Our Savior’s Institute of Science, Agric and Technology (OSISATECH), Enugu where she studied Public Administration and obtained National Diploma (ND) certificate which enabled to secure direct entry admission into Caritas University where she studied Industrial Relations and Personnel Management.

The Rivers State Chairman of All Progressives Congress, APC. Ojukaye Flag-Amachree, has accused Gov. Nyesom Wike, South-South of the country of painting and inviting dignitaries across Nigeria to commission projects already completed by his predecessor with so much fanfare just for the governor’s vain glory.
Speaking to journalists at the APC State Secretariat in Port Harcourt, Ojukaye cited the case of the Obiri Ikwerri – Airport Road which he said by was initiated by former governor Peter Odili and completed by Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi as governor.
He accused Wike of merely patching one or two spots on the road and inviting the Senate President, Bukola Saraki to commission, claiming to have initiated, built and completed the road.
“It is so sad that Wike has refused to come to terms with the truth. Inviting the Senate President to commission the Obiri-Ikwerre – Airport Road, which he presently claims to have constructed, remains the biggest fraud of the century.
“Rivers people can never be cowed and hoodwinked into forgetting the glaring fact that Gov. Odili initiated the construction of that road whereas Gov. Amaechi constructed the drainages and tarred the road alongside the Obiri-Ikwerre Interchange that gives architectural beauty and economic significance to the road.
“A governor with a modicum of integrity would not crave to appropriate the glory for himself alone. Wike lacks integrity otherwise why should a responsible governor not state the obvious facts by acknowledging the work done by Sir. Dr. Peter Odili and Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi concerning that road?
“More importantly, this governor who is spreading lies about the history and status of the Obiri-Ikwerre – Airport Road merely laid asphalt after remedial pothole works on the road,” Ojukaye declared.
The Rivers State APC Chairman called on Rivers people and Nigerians not to be deceived by the fraudulent way Gov. Wike was managing the affairs of Rivers State.
“Gov Wike is simply operating a fraudulent scheme in the name of government; he alone determines what contract to award and to whom. Due process is dead in Rivers State as he runs the state as a personal fiefdom. Not even his commissioners know the contracts being awarded in their ministries. The situation is so appalling and we are wondering how we got to this sorry pass,” Ojukaye stated.
Local government coordinators from the North West States of the country have been inaugurated in support of President Muhammadu Buhari”s Presidential bid.
Inaugurating the coordinators in Kaduna, Acting chairman of the group, Yusuf Bala Ikara, said the group was carefully selected to diligently work under the umbrella of the reputable organization in support of Buhari/Osibanjo 2019 Presidency re-election.
He said the organization was a collection of young Parliamentarians from the Northwest Geo-political zone, voluntarily resolved to wholly in support of the incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Prof. Yemi Osibanjo to continue steering the political ship of the nation come 2019.
Considering the laudable achievements of Buhari- led government, he explained, the leadership had unequivocally recorded indelible marks that remain on the sand of political history of Nigeria as landmark of resounding success in the areas of security, economy, fight against corruption and infrastructural development with consequent redemption of the hitherto soiled image of Nigeria in the comity of nation.
He added, “There is no gain saying that President Muhammadu Buhari took the leadership of Nigeria when it was almost on a brink of collapse evident in the activities of the terrorists and irreligious Boko Haram which led to the taken over fourteen (14) Local Governments and hoisted their flags in Borno State.
“The eventual spread their tentacles to other parts of the Northeast and gradually launching bomb attacks as well as suicide bombings on other parts of the Northeast the mantle of control of the Nigerian economy was battered by the government that President Buhari succeeded to the point that payment of workers salary were about to be impo to the embezzlement, bribery and other related economic and financial recklessness.
“The Nigerian economy is oil pipelines and oil bunkering by the so-called militants in the Niger Delta further subjected to agony by the recurrent vandalization and the subjection of Nigeria to security threats and the battering of its economy, coupled with the various styles of corruption which heavily led to its loss of integrity, sincerity and trust by other nations.
“Furthermore, the President Muhammadu Buhari led Administration was faced with a bad luck of drastic fall of oil price which further crippled the Nigerian economy as a result of high dependency on the oil sector as main source of revenue.”
He claimed that the Muhammad Buhari led administration has achieved in terms of touching the lives of the citizenry, adding that the administration could not achieve more than what it has so far if not for the support of Nigerians.
Despite the aforementioned obstacles encountered by the President Muhammadu Buhari led administration, he said, it was able to tackle the issue of Boko Haram to the extent of not having control over single town in the whole country and their power of bomb attacks and suicide bombings was reduced to the minimum.
Other reasons why they voluntarily support Buhari/Osibanjo 2019 Presidency, he said include its sincerity of purpose, integrity, transparency, accountability, discipline, ethicality, trust and tolerance displayed over the years.
“Our hailing from the same geo-political zone with President Buhari, his track record of altruism and general integrity including that of his Vice President and his loyalty make us to come together as Young Parliamentarians from seven (7) states of the Northwest below the age of Forty five (45) years to support them despite the fact that we are not too young to govern,” he added.
He therefore called on the coordinators to give their unflinching support by working tirelessly towards making its basic objectives a reality.
“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. If you do this, you will experience God’s peace – which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
Worrying is being anxious, depressed or nervous about a situation or for something. It can also mean being afraid that the worst will happen in a situation. Yes, it is human and natural to feel concerned about a situation, but when we become afraid, faithless or depressed because of what is happening or what will happen, then we are off the track. We have automatically stopped trusting God. Yes, worrying is a sign of faithlessness – lack of faith in God and His ability to change situations. We must trust God in all situations. We must put all our cares, burdens, affairs, fears, concerns into His hands. He even told us to cast all our burdens upon Him and He will give us rest and peace.
Yes, these two things are very important – rest and peace. You need them so much to live well in this world. There are so many people who don’t have rest and peace. These are precious gifs that only God can give in this life. Money, connections and pleasure of this life cannot guarantee them. It is only those who cast their burdens upon the LORD that have them. If you trust God from today, you will start having rest and peace.
Things to do to avoid worrying
Believe in God, His love and His ability to take care of every situation, not matter how difficult it looks. Trust Him and His words totally – rest in His promises. Read His words (Bible, sermons, psalms, Christian music). Fellowship with other Christians regularly. Learn of His great promises and hold onto them permanently. Be patient and hopeful always. Then, like we saw in the main text praise and thank him always and in every situation. Remember His is always in perfect control. Yes, instead of worrying spend quality time everyday in praising and worshiping Him. Thank Him for all wonderful works. Thank His for His goodness. Thank Him for those things in your life that money cannot buy. Thank Him for the gift of life, etc. There are more to thank Him for than spending time to brood over the negatives.
Pray at all times, more especially in crises times and during difficulties. Tell Him your fears. Pray without always) privately and in Group. Remember also that Jesus said that by worrying you cannot solve any problem. He said that we should learn from the birds of the air that neither have farms or barn, but God feeds them very well every day. They are always sure that they will feed each day they fly out. As God made daily provisions for the bird, so He has also made for us. He said that by worrying, you cannot add or remove from the situation. So, get up and put all into His hands today. Be patient as you expect the answers to those prayers and situations. He will surely do it. God bless!

Zamfara State Police Command on Saturday arrested additional 11members of the proscribed dreaded Yan Sakai vigilantee group at their hideouts in Kasuwan Daji Village, Kaura-Namoda local government area.
A statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Shehu Mohammed said in its determination to fish out perpetrators of the killings of the unidentified 23 corpses found in a forest in Boko Village, Zurmi local government area, the police through Intelligence led policing, successfully arrested 11 members of the Yan Sakai group.
“You may recall that on 3rd July, 2018, the Commissioner of police, Zamfara State Command, Cp Kenneth Ebrimson paraded 4 Suspects for their involvement”, he said.
The state police spokesman said many dangerous weapons including one locally made gun with 68 pellets, 8 Swords, 3 Cutlasses, 3 Cudgels, assorted Charms and Consignment of Gun powder were recovered from those arrested.
Shehu added that the command on Friday arrested two notorious suspects at Bargaja Village in Gusau local government area while One Boxer motorcycle was recovered from them.
“All the suspects will be Charged to court on completion of the investigation”, he assures.
He commended the public for the inflow of information, which he said, led to the successes recorded and enjoined them to sustain the tempo.
The FIFA World Football Museum exhibition will present the 2018 FIFA World Cup winners’ trophy for the entire day of Sunday in Moscow.
It will be displayed alongside the replica of the Jules Rimet Cup, the trophy that was first presented to winners in 1930 when the competition started.
The exhibition, known as “The History Makers’’, will hold at the Hyundai Motorstudio on New Arbat Avenue in Moscow.
Since June 9, the exhibition presented by FIFA Partner Hyundai has welcomed thousands of visitors and is opened daily from 10 a.m to 10 p.m to July 20.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the exhibition will end five days after the final match of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia on July 15.
The competition, which started on June 14, with 32 teams in the race for the trophy, now has four remaining as at Saturday night.
World football body, FIFA, said in a statement on Saturday that admission to the exhibition was free, adding that media representatives were allowed to visit the exhibition, take photos or film inside.
“The exhibition ground floor is a tribute to the passion and devotion of fans from all over the world and their role in making the FIFA World Cup a compelling spectacle.
“There, visitors can see messages from fans of all 32 competing nations and a special display for the adidas Telstar Official Match Balls of the 2018 FIFA World Cup used for the kick-off of the 64 games played in Russia.
“After each match, the ball which started the game is added to the growing collection at the exhibition,’’ a statement by Moritz Ansorge, the FIFA World Football Museum collections manager, indicated.
NAN reports that the museum upper floor is devoted to the history of the FIFA World Cup.
