First Kaduna State Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Northwest Nigeria, Ibrahim Yaro Suleiman has insisted that should Isa Ashiru clinch Kaduna state gubernatorial ticket of the PDP, he would floor incumbent Governor Nasir el-Rufai at the 2019 polls before noon on the day of election.

Similarly, another former State Chairman of the PDP and mercurial politician, Yaro Makama Rigachikun also laments that Kaduna state has been taken hostage by strangers and that Kaduna Government House has been shut from the public and made as an exclusive preserve for a cabal, vowing that should Ashiru become governor, Kaduna state will be returned to its rightful owners.

The two party chieftains gave Local Government and Wards officials of the PDP in Kaduna South Local Government Area of Kaduna state the assurances during a consultation meeting with Ashiru Campaign Committee Organisation, headed by Ambassador Sule Buba.

“Ashiru, is regarded as the topmost contender for the gubernatorial ticket of the PDP in Kaduna state. .

Said Yaro Sulieman: “It is no longer news that this is the most unpopular government that Kaduna state has ever had. Apart from the mass suffering of people as a result of poor administration and unreasonable sacking of a large workforce, the available opportunities for ordinary people to manage are now taken over by friends of the government who live outside Kaduna state. Even the job of parking and disposing of waste is regarded as too high for our people. Instead strangers are brought in and paid huge sums to park them as consultants.

“There is nothing like human feelings towards our people. These are some of the things that when Isa Ashiru is given the ticket of the PDP, and defeats el-Rufai, he will come and make right. I want to assure you, that on that day of election, before 12 noon, incoming result will show that Ashiru will roundly defeat el-Rufai. Ashiru is the best choice for the PDP if el-Rufai must be shown the way out with much ease,” he told the cheering hall full of PDP supporters and delegates to the September gubernatorial primaries of the party.

On his part, Yaro Makam said: “The truth is that there is no state that does not have its problem with their governors. But that of Kaduna state in excess and worse. Today, Kaduna state is in the firm dictatorial grip of the governor, a few cronies and those who have never lived in Kaduna state. Kaduna state is held hostage by strangers and government house is shut away from the public. It does not look like a place where people voted with the peoples vote live. The way this government is averse to the general public is very strange. This has never happened in this state. No wonder this government is too distant to understand the misery it has put people into. When Ashiru gets the ticket of the PDP, God on our side, PDP will form the next government in Kaduna state and he shall restore civility, return dignity to the electorates, liberalise leadership so that he can create the kind of development that Governor Ahmed Maikafir did for the state between 1999-2007,” he said.

The PDP Chairman of Kaduna South, LGA, Yahaya Abubakar in his remarks said that Ashiru was well known to his members and enjoys broad support from them. He affirmed that they have resolved to give the Kudan born politician their bulk vote in the September primaries of the party.

Ashiru, who was Kaduna State House of Assembly member between 1999-2007 and the Appropriation Committee Chairman for the period, also represented Kudan/Makarfi Federal Constituency in the Reps between 2007 and 2015. He contested for the PDP guber ticket under PDP in 2014 and lost to then governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero who was more or less made the sole candidate of the party. He went to the APC to seek for the same opportunity, but lost again to Nasir el-Rufai, the preferred candidate of Gen. Mohammadu Buhari (rtd), the Presidential candidate of the APC.

Ashiru, a founding member of the PDP, left the APC in June this year and returned to the PDP citing, bad and deceitful governance as part of his reason for leaving the APC.

Kaduna State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Paul Manya  Dogo has said that 35% of Nigerian women are barren thereby placing her the 5th highest country in the world with disability problem of infertility.

He also explained that 33 per cent of Nigerian women that give birth are always eager to give birth again.

Speaking through the Deputy Provost, Kaduna State College of Medicine, Dr. Joel Adze on the official commissioning of a private  hospital in Kaduna, the commissioner observed that 36 per cent of Nigerian women give birth in the hospital, stressing that the rest of the women give birth at a low standard environment thereby resulting in being associated with infected diseases.

He added that the infected diseases sometimes resulted in HIV/AIDS and other diseases that hinder women from giving birth at a later stage in their lives.

Social problems associated to infertility, according to him, include stigmatisation, divorce and other problems the woman encounter in life.

Barrenness leads some women engaging in multiple sex with different men in an attempt to get pregnant, pointing out that it results to being infected with diseases, he said.

The commissioner explained that the treatment of infertility is costly in the country, stressing that the equipment are costly and require high skills to be able to manage them.

He decried that there was a decline in the health budgetary in the country as a result of insecurity in most parts of the country.

He called on government to seek and assist the provision of high technology by way of partnering with the private sector for an affordable and sustained health facilities in the country.

The founder Nisa group, Dr Ibrahim Wada said that the first Infertility and In Vitro Fertilization baby was born to Kaduna parents in 1998 by name Hannatu Kupchi.

He explained that there are so many cases of barrenness in the country, noting that the hospital was putting more efforts to wipe away the tears of many families.

The multiple cases of sickle cells, according to him, could also be treated by Nisa hospital .

Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria has appealed to the Federal Government to reconstitute the governing board of the  Council in order to curb the increase of quackery, malpractice and wrong diagnosis in hospitals and Clinics.

The National Publicity Secretary of the Association, Dr. Ifeanyichukwu Casmir Ifeanyi, made the appeal at a press briefing shortly after a General Meeting  of the Association in Gombe , northeast of the country.

He noted that the absence of regulation of practitioners  in the country has contributed to the death of many Nigerians and  encouraged the high incidence of medical tourism in Nigeria.

Dr. Ifeanyi called on the legislature as the conscience of the society, to rise up and protect the fragile Nigeria health system by not allowing the proposed amendment of the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria Act Cap M25, LFN2004.

“The proposed amendment is a retrogressive agenda solely for the aggrandizement of section of the health system. Unarguably, the amendment will make worse the precarious and very deplorable Nigeria health indices.

“ well intentioned as the proposed amendment may have been portrayed, it is not altruistic. Nigeria will be endangered as this is a surreptitious plot to remove the regulatory vault for the provision of Medical Laboratory Services to the people across the country

“we had obtained more than eight judicial interpretation and declaratory judgment across the country. The judiciary holds that the medical laboratory science is a profession distinct from medicine and that there is no conflict between the MLSCN Act Cap M25, LFN2004 and the MDCN Act Cap M, LFN 2004.

He said that the amendment will warrant a perilous situation in Nigeria where everyone could practice and provide medical laboratory services discretionally, anywhere and anyhow without regulatory controls.

Nigeria 2019: I’ll Revisit Issues Of Sacked Kaduna Workers If Elected – Ashiru… Says Insecurity, Social Problems Unacceptable

By Joseph Edegbo

A PDP Gubernatorial Aspirant in Kaduna State, Northwest Nigeria, Isa Ashiru has vowed to revisit the case of what he called unfair mass sack of workers by the el-Rufai led Administration when elected governor

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) had claimed that not less than 35,000 workers in Kaduna state were retrenched from work in the past 3 years under controversial circumstances.

Ashiru , also promised to tackle what he described  as ‘unacceptable’ level of insecurity in the state and the widened socio-political gap between the people of the North and Southern part of the state.

The two-time member of the Kaduna State House of Assembly from 1999 to 2007 and House of Reps member (PDP, Kudan/Makarfi Federal Constituency) from 2007 to 2015, gave the assurance in Kafanchan, Jemaa Local Government Area (LGA) in continuation of his consultation visits to LGA/Ward officials and delegates to the September Primaries of the party.

He said: “Our state has never witnessed the kind of backwardness we are now forced into. It is very unfair to lay off thousands of workers at a time when other alternatives are very hard. You cannot arbitrary sack thousands of workers and refuse to pay them their entitlements knowing fully well that hundreds of thousands depend on then to feed.  When you do so, you are only creating more insecurity and social problems. When I get the ticket of the PDP, it will be easy for our party to win the elections, and we shall look into the matter and ensure justice for all that were unjustly forced out of their jobs. I just want to plead with them to endure for the next few months that the present bad leadership in the state will last,” he told the crowd.

According to him, his team has made a blue print for the rebuilding of the once bubbling economy of Kaduna state and a model for genuine reconciliation between the people of North and Southern parts of the state.

“I have been privileged to travel throughout this vast state and I know every major village while I was the Chairman of Appropriation Committee of the KDHA,” he said.

“I have made great and enduring friendship among ordinary and important individuals in Southern part of the state and I am from northern part of the state. It will be easy for everyone to trust me and work with those that will help forge reconciliation unity among us. I have been part of Southern Kaduna right when I was a child, because my senior brother is married to a Bajju woman in Unguwan Rimi, Bajju where I also visit as my second home.  What the present government is doing is to make it look as if the northern part hates the southern part. I want to assure you that those in the northern part are not better off than our people here in terms of suffering and marginalisation.  Those who have never lived in Kaduna state have deliberately brought in and they have taken over our economy and administration and they are destroying the state. If by the grace of God, I become governor, I shall bridge the gap between the people of Kaduna state,” he said.

“As a true native of Kaduna state, I have developed a master plan to rebuild our economy and remove the unacceptable level of insecurity in the state, because it looks like that those who should be protecting us are no longer interested in that. They have alternative places to run to. I only have Kudan as my final bus stop,” he said.

Former Commissioner for Information, Mr. Ben Bako and Ambassador Sule Buba, the Director General of Isa Ashiru Campaigned Organisation (HIACO), echoed the same view when they posited that Ashiru was the best candidate that the PDP in Kaduna could offer if the party desired a return to power.

“Everyone that is worth his salt as long PDP in Kaduna state is concern is in this camp,” said Bako, adding that, “anyone not with us, has missed his way.”

“All the past PDP Chairmen of the state are here and Ibrahim Yaro Suleiman and pa, Yaro Makama all former PDP chairmen of Kaduna state are here to testify.

“We have among us, two chairmen of other political parties that are in the opposition. Again, all the past Speakers of Kaduna House of Assembly, former commissioners, former Permanent Secretaries, former LGC Chairmen, are in this camp among others,” he said.

The team was in Kagarko, Sanga, Kaura, Zango Kataf LGAs. Elites, stakeholders and delegates to the September PDP gubernatorial primaries turned out in large numbers from their wards to assure Ashiru of their votes.

The tour continues today with Zone 2.
