By Joseph Edegbo:

The Nigeria Police Force has said that all the 2000 Policemen deployed to the North East have reported and are on ground on combat operation in the North East fighting along with the Military in the front line against Boko Haram insurgency.

According to the Force, the 2000 Police personnel deployed are in high morale and high spirit in the operation saying that no Police personnel absconded as alleged in the report.

The Police Force was reacting to an Online media report that “167 POLICE OFFICERS ABSCOND FROM DEPLOYMENT AGAINST BOKO HARAM (FULL LIST)”.

“The Force wishes to categorically state that the story is untrue, absolute falsehood and a deliberate attempt to cast aspersions on the efforts of the Nigeria Police Force in the ongoing fight against the Boko Haram insurgency.

“The insinuation in some quarters and as reported in the story that 167 out the 2000 additional Police Officers recently deployed by the IGP absconded is not correct and should be disregarded by members of the public. These 2000 Police personnel are to complement the efforts of the Military to add new impetus to the fight against the decimated Boko Haram insurgency.

“This story was investigated and it was found out not to be correct, there is no reason whatsoever that Police personnel deployed for the operations in the North East would abscond. The Police Mobile Force (PMF) personnel have been engaged actively in the front line along with the Military in the fight against Boko Haram terrorist group since the inception of the insurgency.

“These 2000 Police Officers recently deployed are in addition to several thousands of Police Personnel already engaged in the fight against insurgency with the Military in the North East. The list of 167 names attached to the story is fake as the Officers mentioned are on ground in the North East.

“The 2000 police personnel deployed are in high morale and high spirit in the operation, the Force sees the story as a deliberate attempt to promote insurgency and dapple the morale of Officers and Men of the Police and other services who on daily basis lay down their lives to protect our dear Nation, Nigeria and ensure security of all citizenry.

“Members of the public are hereby implored to disregard the story in its entirety as a pure misinformation and hearsay.

“It is evidently clear that the writer of the story has never visited the venue of training or witness the deployment of the Police personnel in the operation but rely ignorantly on hearsay from misguided individuals who are being used to work against national interest and security.

“The Nigeria Police Force will continue to hold the media in a very high regard as a veritable partner in ensuring adequate security and success of the fight against insurgency, however, the media are implored not allow their esteemed publication be used publish falsehood capable of misinforming and misleading the public.”

Nigeria: Kaduna Trailer Movement Group Kicks Against Exemption Request By NBL

By Joseph Edegbo:

A group under the umbrella of Arewa Progressive Movement for Good Governance, North-West Nigeria has kicked against a waiver request by Nigerian Breweries PLC on Transport and Truck Movement within restricted hours in Kaduna.

The group said its stance against the request was after a thorough investigation into a letter signed by the Public Affairs Manager of Nigerian Breweries PLC.

In a statement made available to journalists, the group said the passionate request by Nigerian Breweries to Kaduna State Government to grant them a waiver allowing over 800 trailers of NB PLC to move around the state on both Federal and State roads at restricted hours is contrary to the laws of the state.

According to the group, if Kaduna has made a law restricting movement of trailers and other trucks on township roads from 6am to 7pm why should the Nigerian Breweries be given a special consideration.

It recalled,” The Kaduna State Government in 2016, had issued an Executive order restricting the movement of trailers and other big trucks on township roads from 6am to 7am. This was to the heavy traffic jam usually caused by these trailers and the recklessness of the drivers resulting in numerous accidents .This according to the State Government was to save lives.

The group further gave ten reasons Kaduna State Government should not go back on its words by granting waiver to Nigerian Breweries PLC.

Among the reasons are: ”That Nigerian Breweries have contributed to the deplorable state of our roads through their heavy trucks .For example, in Nasarawa area near Kakuri ,where one of their factories is located, the youth recently protested and stopped Breweries from passing their roads.

“Their drivers are heavily reckless and always obstructing traffic in town especially around the Kudenda, Kakuri and Sabo express roads, one can check their records of booking with KASTLEA.

“They are not cautious and responsible because their production activities in Kakuri area have polluted the entire Makera area. And the company uptil now has only paid cosmetics attention to that issue.

“That this group will consult Human Rights groups to take the company to a court of competent jurisdiction to challenge the positioning of the companies in residential areas.

”Kaduna State should take a clue from Kano and see the sanctity that has being brought to its roads by not allowing heavy trucks in the day time , Kaduna roads are safe now and we cannot go backwards.

”That the company has over 800 trailers which they themselves cannot control and some are owned by other people so how can one account and manage what he can’t control.

”That the company has never embarked on any road rehabilitation in the host communities as Social Responsibility Projects.

Christmas: Recommit Yourselves To Nation Building -Uba Sani Tells Nigerians

By Joseph Edegbo:

Senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress for Kaduna Central, Northwest Nigeria, Uba Sani has enjoined Nigerians to recommit themselves to nation building, just as he felicitates with Christians on the commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ.

In a message, especially to his constituents, Uba Sani said Christmas is a time for reunion and merrymaking, but more importantly, a time for deep reflections on spiritual lives and the state of families, communities, states, nation and entire humanity.

“As we celebrate, we must be mindful of the reason for Christmas, which is to love one another. We must draw inspiration from the exemplary life of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ was an embodiment of love, peace, selflessness, patience, justice, truth, joy, humility, compassion and sacrifice.

“If we imbibe and demonstrate in our daily lives the virtues and values exemplified by Jesus Christ during his Ministry on Earth, our families, communities and country would be better places.

“This year’s Christmas is being celebrated at a time many of our communities are in the grip of conflicts and violence. Our country men and women are in pains. They look to us for succour and comfort. We must give them a helping hand in the true spirit of Christmas. “The search for peace must henceforth occupy our attention. We must be prepared to do justice and accept genuine reconciliation to achieve enduring peace.

“On the economic front, our country continues to grapple with huge challenges. President Muhammadu Buhari and our leaders at different levels are making strenuous efforts to stabilise the country. But we must, as Nigerians, recommit ourselves to the building of a better Nigeria. We owe it to ourselves, our country and generations yet unborn.

“As the 2019 general elections draws closer, my plea to politicians is to tone down their rhetorics and focus on issues.  There is increasing lack of civility in public discourse. We must use temperate language in order not to overheat the polity.

“I want to take this opportunity to thank all Christians in Kaduna Central Senatorial Zone in particular and Kaduna State in general for their immense contributions to the growth and development of the state. May the spirit of Christmas help in the search for lasting peace in the State.

“I urge our dear Christian Community not to waver in their support for Governor Nasir El-Rufai and President Muhammadu Buhari. They have both shown leadership and commitment to the building of a better Kaduna State and Nigeria. They deserve our continued support. “

“In giving thanks to God, we are making our requests known to Him and we would get more blessings and He will surely come to the aid of the people and the country at large.

“If we give thanks to God, He will favour the country; He will locate us and take the country to the top.

“I want to urge all of us to continue to give thanks to God no matter our situation because as we thank God, He will face out our challenges and we will be better and our nation would become a better place to dwell in.”
