Kaduna (Nigeria) – The Nigeria Police Force has arrested a gang of suspected kidnappers and arm robbers who are responsible for various kidnappings and robbery attacks in Benue state, North Central Nigeria.

Spokesperson of the Nigeria police force, Don Awunah said the suspected kidnappers confessed to be behind several kidnappings in Benue State including the kidnap of an Indian expatriate in Katsina Ala; one Mr. Charles, a business man at Adikpo, Kwande Local Government Area of the state and a prominent chief Tsegba in Gboko – which they collected a ransom of Five Million (5,000,000) naira before his release.

He added that, the suspect also confessed to the kidnappings of several lecturers and businessmen in College of Education, Katsina Ala and other neighboring towns.

According to Awunah, the suspects were arrested following the deployment of the Intelligent Response Team (IRT) by the Inspector General of Police Ibrahim Idris in the state to tackle and resolve cases of kidnapping using citizen’s supports and deployment of technical platforms.

The suspects include; Terna Lorlu aka Rocker (28) – Gang leader, Ternenger Terwase aka Bishop (29),  Terungwa Abasuwa aka Bobby (27), and  Oryina Bosua aka Man U (34).

“Investigation is being intensified to arrest other members of the gang still at large. All suspects will be arraigned in court on completion of the investigation,” Awunah said in a statement.

He however called on the public to be vigilant and continue to partner with the Nigeria Police Force to ensure a crime free society.
