Nigerian Youth Group Wants Political Thugs Disarmed

Kaduna (Nigeria) – A Nigerian group under the auspices of El-Rufai Youth Colliation in Kaduna northwest Nigeria wants the country’s security agents to disarm political thugs across the country.

The political group observed that there were lots of thugs hired by political opponents to perpetuate violence at the just concluded elections in the country.

Coordinator of the youth group, Balarabe Birnin Yero who disclosed this at an event to celebrate Kaduna State Governor elect, Nasir El-Rufai noted that it’s only when such youth are disarmed that Nigeria in general, and Kaduna state in particular may not know peace.

“We are appealing to all those political thugs who were hired to cause chaos during the last elections to return such arms because the election is over and it is time for peace.

” We all know that there have been reports about thugs been hired to attack opponents during campaigns.

” Now elections are over so we expect such politicians to call on their thugs to return or burn down such arms for peace to reign in the state and country,”he said.

Comrade Balarabe also disclosed that their groups is based on volunteerism, adding that they were moved to form the organisation because they needed change in the country.

According to him, the founders sponsor the group to carry out its activities, urging the incoming government of APC to execute project that will benefit all citizens irrespective of religion or ethnicity.

In a remark, Pastor Yohanna Buru charged the group to continue their effort in promoting peace in the state.

Pastor Buru commended Nigeria for conducting a peaceful and violence free election.

He urged politicians to imbibe the culture of peace in future elections.
