The President of the Middle Belt Forum (MBF), Dr. Bitrus Pogu, has congratulated Sen. John Azuta-Mbata on his election as the President-General of Ohaneze Ndi-Igbo, the Igbo Pan Cultural group.
“On behalf of all the ethnic nationalities of the Middle Belt, I wish to congratulate Sen. John Azuta-Mbata on his emergence as the newly elected leader of Ohaneze Ndi-Igbo, together with his new Executive Council,” Pogu was quoted in a statement by the National Public Officer of the MBF, Luka Binniyat.
“The Middle Belt Forum is looking forward to the usual robust and cordial relationship that has existed between our Forum and Ohaneze as we both strive for a better and workable country for our people.
“I wish the new exco of Ohaneze Ndi-Igbo a peaceful and result-oriented tenure as I assure them of our commitment to all the programs and agreements we have reached in the past with other Southern-based socio-cultural groups,” Pogu said.
The Middle Belt is made up of all ethnic nationalities in the defunct Northern Region (now broken into 19 states plus the Federal Capital Territory) that were never under the rule of the Sokoto Caliphate and Kanem Borno Empire in pre-colonial Nigeria.
