General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma (Rtd) has stressed the need for peaceful coexistence in Nigeria and in Taraba State, underscoring it as the basis for attracting investors and development.

He was speaking at the commissioning of the ultra-modern Daisy Danjuma Eye Hospital in Takum, Taraba State, named after his wife.

The hospital, an extension of the TY Danjuma Foundation’s Medical Centre, is expected to provide highly subsidized eye surgeries, eyeglasses, and other related services.

The Retired General turned philanthropist also called for infrastructural improvement, ICT training, and attitudinal change to drive progress in the state.

Speaking while inaugurating the project, Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, extolled the qualities of T. Y. Danjuma, appreciating him for his developmental initiatives in the state.

He commended the philanthropist’s contributions, highlighting the significance of the Eye Hospital Takum in the state.

Also speaking, Country Director of Development Africa, Joshua Campeneer, explained the hospital’s role and highlighted that it has been providing such services at a highly subsidized rate for the past three months.

National Coordinator of the National Eye Health Programmes, Dr. Oten Okolo, commended the Eye Hospital, describing it as a beacon of hope for those in need of eye services, expressing his delight at its establishment.

In a remark, a Trustee of the T. Y. Danjuma Foundation, Dr Ugo Okoli, stressed that the hospital will provide cutting-edge eye care services, highlighting the foundation’s impactful work nationwide.

The inauguration prominent Nigerians among them were Deputy Governor of Taraba, Aminu Alkali, the Chairman Elders Forum of Middle Belt Forum, General Zamani Lawcot (Rtd), the former Executive Secretary of TETFUND, Prof. Suleiman Bogoro, members of the National Assembly, Members of the State House of Assembly,

Others were Commissioners, LGA chairpersons and Traditional rulers led by the Aku Uka of Wukari and Chairman of the Taraba State Traditional Council of Chiefs, Manu Ishaku Adda Ali (Matakitswen I).
