The Gombe State Executive Council, presided over by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has approved a 3-year Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) for onward submission to the State House of Assembly.

The document will set a strategic roadmap for Gombe State’s financial trajectory over the coming three years.

The SEC approval paves the way for further legislative deliberation and approval by the State legislature on the strategic financial plan.

The Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Salihu Baba Alkali, while addressing newsmen after the meeting, said the framework outlines the state’s anticipated income and expenditure, within the broader context of the microeconomic landscape.

He explained the thoroughness of the MTEF’s preparation, which encompasses multifaceted assumptions derived from international, national, regional, and state-level economic dynamics.

These assumptions, according to him, were crafted based on a comprehensive assessment of revenue and expenditure parameters.

The commissioner of Information and Culture, Mijinyawa Tilde, who coordinated the briefing, said the approval of the 3-year MTEF underscores the state government’s commitment to prudent financial planning and responsible fiscal management, aimed at ensuring effective allocation of resources for developmental initiatives and sustainable growth.
