In compliance with the directive of the Katsina State Government, Northwest Nigeria, Village community security committees have been established in Ketare District as part of measures to curtail the insecurity bedeviling the State
The District Head Kanwan Katsina, Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara who performed the inauguration of the committees in his palace, commended the State government for the initiative which he observed would in no small way curtail the menace.
A statement signed by his Media Aide, Jamilu Hashimu Gora said the Kanwan Katsina who chairs the security committee at the District level, urged the entire village heads to work assiduously to comply with the state government directives.
Alhaji Usman Bello stated that all the 147 ward heads are members of the committee in their respective village head committees in addition to religious leaders.
The statement noted that the Ketare District community security committee constitute of the 9 village heads of Ketare, Hurya, Kuka Sheka, Yar’tasmiyar Jino, Katoge, Gundawa, Tudu, gurbi and Pawwa.
While commending the Katsina State House of Assembly for establishing the Community Security Watch law, the Kanwan Katsina reminded the people of the provisions of the law which include two years imprisonment for violators and fine, or both, if convicted.
Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara assured continued support of traditional rulers to all government policies and programs.
At end of the inauguration, the District Head directed that special prayers be offered for the return of peace in Ketare District, Kankara Local Government, Katsina State and the country, at large.
