The Jigawa Social Protection Platform, ( JISOP) has picked holes in the recent palliative Distribution in the state with a call for the re-view of the entire excercise to ensure equity and fairness.

Speaking at the quarterly meeting of the platform, the Chairman, Comrade Shuaibu Kafin-Gana, noted that the recent palliative distribution across the 27 LGA’S in jigawa state was characterized by many negative factors including non application of the state’s existing social register and poor implementation.
Poor sharing formula of the distributed items, preference to officials attached to the distribution of the commodities, non inclusion of the CSO’s among the supervising bodies,.

The ugly situation prompted the attention of JISOP and other NGO’S to intensify efforts to partake in the next palliatives distributions to ensure transparency, and social justice.

On the issue of Disability Fund, JISOP noted that the fund had reached over 34million Naira, but without the trustees in place to administer the fund effectively as viewed by the Chairman JONAPWD.

According to the Chairman, he was informed of the establishment of such body by the Government which is yet to announce members of the trustees.

The JONAPWD Chairman, Hon. Shuaibu Jigawar Tsada, added that an advocacy visit to His Excellency was conducted in this regard. According to him, since there are is no challenges on the Jigawa State Cash Transfer for Pregnant women as all the beneficiaries have received their 9months payments, there is need to pay advocacies to Emirs of Ringim, Gumel and Hadejia as well Bankers Forum to solicit for more support and patronage.

Other important issues delibrated include the ethnic minority whose Children should be recognized as they are born in Jigawa State and that those families can no longer go back to their state of origin for obvious reasons like insecurity and long years of settling in the state. The ethnic minorities need some level of inclusiveness around scholarship, indigene letter, empowerment and school fees payment, the

It was resolved that Advocacies to MDAs and His Excellency be carried out to all relevant govt agencies on the exclusion (Marginalization) of PWDs during the Palliative distributions across the 27 LGAs, the Ethnic minorities (Non indigenes Forum), among Others, and Letter of concern to ministry for Local Government, ALGON Chairman and His Excellency for consideration in resolving the affirmation predicaments.
