A Conglomeration of Islamic Resident Doctors, Islamic Medical Association of Nigeria ( IMAN) in conjunction with AA Rano Foundation has undertaken a voluntary Eye Surgery to about 1,000 eye patients in Jigawa State.
An official of the Association and a Surgeon with Rasheed Shekoni Specialist Hospital of the Federal University Dutse, Dr Salisu Ismail disclosed this in an interview with newsmen in Dutse.
Dr. Ismail said the operations were conducted in major hospitals in Dutse, Gumel, Hadejia and Kazaure where two hundred eye patients drawn from different Communities as part of the organization’s corporate responsibility in assisting the less privileged with eye problems.
“In Dutse General Hospital, apart from eye surgery, we undertook general eye treatment voluntary to most of our Communities with severe eye problems, among other health related issues, and I am pleased to inform you that most of the patients we treated have gained their sights perfectly okay”.
According to him, the operation was the fifth in series compared to the previous Ones we conducted in Gumel, Kazaure, Dutse, and Hadejia General hospitals last year with the support of the Jigawa state government, and some other private donors especially the politicians and other wealthy individuals.
In the last three years, we were able to treat over 3,000 patients with different cases of eye treatment ranging from operation of Cataract, Glaucoma, among other eye treatments. Also we undertake eye surgery, and general clinical eye services on patients with eye problems coming from different locations in Jigawa state.
He stated that the Organization has offered medical attention voluntarily to over five thousand patients ranging from eye operation and surgery among other medical attention on other health related issues, and pledged to render more medical attention to different classes of people with medical deficiency within and outside the State.
IMAN is a Conglomeration of practicing Residents Doctor’s drawn from different medical Institution’s and formations established about twenty five years ago with branches in more than twenty six states in the federation. It was conceived primarily to offer voluntary medical attention through govt and public participation aimed at rendering voluntary medical services to the less privileged in society.
