The Kano State Fire Service on Tuesday said fire disasters in various parts of the state recorded in May have led to the loss of 16 lives and destroyed properties worth N21,350,000.
A statement by the Service’s spokesperson, Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, explained that, in May 2023, the State Fire Service received emergency calls from their 27 fire stations across the State, including 60 fire calls, 35 rescue calls, and seven false alarms.
“Estimated properties destroyed by the fire disaster: N21,350,000.
“Estimated properties saved by our men: N55,410,000.
“Sixteen (16) live were lost in the month of May 2023 from different disasters.
“The number of people that we successfully saved from a different fire disaster, Ninety-two (92).
The Fire Service, however, advised the public to be cautious while handling fire, abide by traffic law, and free up drainages to forestall any disaster.
