Nigeria 2023: Zamfara PDP Guber Tussle, Change Of Lawyer Stalls Proceedings At Federal High Court

Proceedings were halted Tuesday on a case filed by three aspirants at Federal High Court Gusau challenging emergence of Dauda Lawal Dare as candidate of people’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the forthcoming 2023 general election.

The three aspirants were; Hon. Ibrahim Shehu Gusau, Wadatau Madawaki and Aliyu Hafiz Muhammad.

The presiding Judge, Justice Bappa Aliyu while ruling on the application filed by one of the defendants, Dauda Lawal Dare seeking a change of a legal counsel adjourned the matter for accelerated hearing on July 29, 30 and 31.

Legal counsel to Hon. Ibrahim Shehu Gusau and others, Barr. Ibrahim Aliyu while expressing disappointment over the action of the 4th defendant of delaying proceedings said he had to oblige the adjournment out of magnanimity.

He however reiterated the resolve of his client to pursue the case to its logical conclusions to set a precedence that would be a reference point in the future.

” We were in Court today for continuation of the case filed by our clients challenging the legitimacy of the May 25 PDP Governorship primary of Zamfara State on grounds that laid down procedures were not followed.

” The exercise flouted provisions of the party constitution and Electoral Acts which if allowed to stay would set a very bad precedence in our polity.

” It is therefore, a patriotic duty on us as law-abiding citizens who are passionate about the growth of our democracy to seek a redress before the temple of justice and We’re optimistic of victory at the end of the day, ” he assured.
