President Hakainde Hichilema of Zambia has held talks with the European Union Council President, Charles Michel in Brussels, Belgium on Partnership with Europe in the areas of trade and investment.

Hichilema who was speaking shortly after the meeting said the Partnership is key to Zambia and a path to sustainable development in place of aid.

The President said his country is eager to see that its products are on the international market.

“We just held talks with the European Union Council President Charles Michel, here in Brussels, Belgium.

“We discussed the need for enhanced partnerships in key areas of trade and investment between Zambia and Europe because this is key to us and a path to sustainable development in place of aid.

“Unlocking some barriers is paramount as we are in a hurry to see Zambian products on the international market and eventually turn our country into a production house in order create and sustain jobs.

“Earlier, we met the European Union Commissioner for international partnerships Ms Jutta Urpilainen and indicated our commitment to ensure that Zambia engages in partnerships that are mutually beneficial.

“We also took the opportunity in both meetings to market our country as usual.

“Fellow Zambians. Let’s hold hands together and lift our country’s flag higher and higher. It’s work after work!

“Zambia is getting better and indeed will be better.”
