Zambians Pay Glowing Tribute To Late President Fredrick Chiluba

Zambians on Saturday gathered to celebrate the life of Dr. Chiluba who died eleven years ago.

Describing the Late President as a gallant son of their great nation, President Hakainde Hichilema said his government shares the economic vision of the late President.

‘Today marks exactly 11 years since our second President, His Excellency Dr Fredrick Jacob Titus Chiluba answered God’s call.

“And so this morning we gathered at Embassy Park to celebrate the life of Dr Chiluba, a gallant son of our great Nation, a champion of multi party democracy and a trade unionist par excellence.

“His team hailed from all corners of our Republic, thereby underscoring the importance of fostering unity and inclusiveness, and today we stand as beneficiaries of a Democratic Zambia.

“The New Dawn Government shares Dr Chiluba’s vision of economic liberalisation which at that time played an important role in resolving food shortages that were commonplace.

“We still continue to this day, in pursuing policies that focus on empowering our people in a free market economy, an economy that promotes entrepreneurship among its people. This is as a result of of the foundation laid by Dr Chiluba and his team.

“We encouraged Dr Chiluba’s family to remain strong and promised them that Zambia will always remember him for his love for the people and his courage to fight for democracy and justice for all.

“May His Soul Rest In Peace”, the President concludes
