Liberian Ministry Of Defence To Train Customs In Weapon Handling

The Liberia Revenue Authority and the Ministry of Defence have signed a Memorandum of Understand for the training of Customs Officers.

Under the MoU, LRA Customs Officers will be trained by the Armed Forces of Liberia in specialized skills including the use of weapons in keeping with the statutory roles and responsibilities of the tax Authority.

The agreement among other things, seeks for collaboration on border and maritime enforcement and the implementation of the LRA’s Customs Security Program (CSP).

The Customs Security Program launched in 2021 is aimed at building the competencies of LRA Customs Officers in the areas of basic technical and tactical security skills and is a vital requirement in meeting the standards of the World Customs Organization (WCO)

So far, 153 LRA Customs Officers have have been trained by the Liberia National Police Training Academy since the start of the training.
