Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje on monday received participants of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) Senior Executive Course 44 (Group 3) at the Government House.
Speaking during an interactive session with the participants, the Governor who was represented by his deputy Dr.Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna described the theme of the course:”Strengthening Local Governance in Nigeria-Challenges,options and opportunities” as appropriate and timely.
According to him..his administration is committed to ensuring transparency and accountability, that is why its among those states that gives free hand to local governments to operate being a tier close to the people.
“In an effort of providing good governance we have enhanced local administration in the State through promotion of Free and Compulsory Basic Education Scheme Primary Health Care”.
“These initiatives has reduced drastically the number of out of school children while our school enrolment increased with more than 100% he stated”.
The Governor also explained that the regular study tour to Kano State undertaken by the participants from NIPSS demonstrates the recognition of achievements of the State by the institute.
Earlier, the Team Leader Retired Brigadier General Chukwuemeka Udaya said during every visit, the President gives the institute a topic to conduct a research on it.
“This year the participants are undertaking a local study tour to a selection 14 states, 7 from the North and 7 from the Southern part of the country he said “.
He commended the State government for authorising the visit and for the reception and hospitality given to them.
