UK Cautions Citizens On Travels To 19 States in Nigeria

Date:

United Kingdom has advised its citizens against non-essential travels to some states in Nigeria over insecurity concerns.

This was made known in a statement published on Wednesday by its Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).

“The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) advises against all travel to the following Nigerian states: Borno State, Yobe State, Adamawa State, Gombe State, Kaduna State, Katsina State, Zamfara State, riverine areas of Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Cross River States.”

Other states were “Bauchi, Kano, Jigawa, Niger, Sokoto, Kogi State, within 20kilometres of the border with Niger in Kebbi State, Abia State, non-riverine areas of Delta, Bayelsa and Rivers States.”

The announcement came 2 days after the Monday attack on Kaduna bound train form Abuja, where several passengers were killed, others injured, and others kidnapped by suspected terrorists.

Prior to the train attack, on Saturday, Kaduna International Airport came under attack by terrorists, where they prevented an airline from take-off, killing a staff.

A day after the train attack, reports say the Abuja-Kaduna express way was blocked by suspected terrorists, leaving passengers stranded for several minutes.

Northern Nigeria has been experiencing various forms of attacks where gunmen invade communities in several states with little or no resistance.
