Kaduna (Nigeria) – Following Nigeria’s celebration of 55th independence anniversary celebration Thursday, over 50, 000 security officers have been placed on red alert to forestall any breach of peace during the celebration by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), and the Nigerian police Force (NPF).

Commandant-General NSCDC Gana Muhammadu, said it has ordered the deployment of 50,000 personnel across the country while the Inspector-General of the Nigerian Police Force, Solomon E. Arase said, it has ordered all the zonal commands in the country to deploy all operational tools and manpower available in order to guarantee the safety and well-being of all citizenry.

The NSCDC Boss, who explained through his spokes man Okeh Emmanuel, in a statement, said the massive deployment of its officers was meant to prevent breach of peace; adding that, 5,000 sniffer dogs, mobile surveillance vehicle and other gadgets would be use for effective monitoring and supervision.

The Inspector General of Police also explained through the Force Spokes man Olabisi kolawole, in a statement, pointed out that officers and men of the Force have been charged to ensure round the clock security measures, including effective aerial and vehicular patrol of all nooks and crannies of the country.

“The IGP has specifically, directed all Zonal Assistant Inspectors-General of Police and Command Commissioners of Police to ensure adequate and effective deployment of all operational tools and manpower within their Commands, in order to guarantee the safety and well-being of the citizenry.”

Solomon Arase, assured Nigerians of a peaceful and secure anniversary celebration while saluting their courage and determination to build and sustain a strong, indivisible and virile nation, in spite of all confronting circumstances.

Both security agencies urged members of the public to cooperate with the security officers by providing useful information especially with regards to the on-going fight against terrorism and other forms of crimes and criminalities, for the benefit of all citizenry.
