Unit Commander Officers of the Nigerian Mobile Police Force (PMF) have been charged on professionalism in the course of discharging their duties and ensuring strict supervision of officers assign to work under them.

Inspector-General of the Nigerian Police Force, Solomon E. Arase, gave the charge at the official passing out ceremony of 196 Police Mobile Force Unit Commanders who had undergone a conversion course training at the PMF Training College Ila Oragun, Osun State, South-west Nigeria.

He noted that, the supervision and control of the policemen is with a view to avoiding any vicarious liability.

Statement by the Force Public Relations officer, Olabisi Kolawole explained that, Arase has also mandated them to do away with illegal deployment of their men to unauthorized persons or beats, reiterating the need to be civil to members of the public in the course of carrying out their duties and ensuring zero tolerance for corruption.

The 196 police officers have received intensive training in combat operations, ethics, personnel management, musketry, human rights, and fire arms laws and regulations among other things.

“This was aimed at equipping them to become effective and efficient Unit Commanders,” it added.
