The Southern Kaduna Zone of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, the party’s strong hold, has been hit by crisis following orchestrated moves to impose a particular Chairmanship contestant on others.
The position has been zoned to the area under the party’s arrangement and 6 are contesting the Chairmanship position, out of whom, 4 are alleging of an imposition plan.
The 4, operating under “Forum of State Chairmanship Contestants” said at a news briefing in Kaduna Wednesday that there were “malicious rumour being spread by enemies of progress that they have stepped down” so as to pave way for the imposition.
The aggrieved Contestants, Abubakar Gaiya Haruna, Bulus Kajang, Ado Dogo Audu and Ashafa Waziri vehemently told newsmen that they are in the race and would see to the conclusion of the exercise.
Ashafa who spoke on behalf of his colleagues said it was sad to note that a group of people had called for a meeting tomorrow ( Thursday) in the name of Southern Zone three without following the constitutionally approved procedures and thereby distanced themselves.
“We as Chairmanship Contestants , who are critical Stakeholders in the process , were not invited and we have it on good authority that the Hatchers of the meeting intended to claim that we have stepped down from the contest an thereafter announce the adoption of a particular candidate” , he said.
According to the Spokesman, any meeting not conveyed by the highest Political office holder in the Zone or in the entire State , in person of Senator Danjuma Tella Laah, who is constitutionally recognised is illegal.
He warned that any attempt to ridicule or sideline the Senator would be resisted.
The Forum which spoke of the need to make a change , noted that PDP had never experienced a crisis like the one in the last 2 years , blaming it on “poor, divisive, stubborn and retrogressive leadership”.
