Nigeria: Bandits Kill APC Chieftain, 13 Others In Katsina

Armed bandits have raided three villages in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State, Northwest of the country, killing thirteen people and stealing hundreds of animals and other valuable property.
The incident, according Radio Nigeria monitored in Kaduna,  occured at Unguwar Gizo, Sabon Layin Galadima and Mairuwa where the bandits in their hundreds on motorcycles invaded the villages
Confirming the incident Spokesman for the state police command, SP Gambo Isah explained that the bandits were on a cattle rustling operation when the villagers confronted them.
He said the police had cautioned villagers against confronting bandits who are usually armed with AK-47 rifles.
In a related development, the All Progressives Congress Chairman of Batsari Local Government Area of the State has been assassinated by the Bandits.
Lawmaker representing Batsari at the Katsina State House of Assembly, Alhaji Jabiru Yauyau confirmed the incident to Radio Nigeria.
A resident of Sabon Garin Duburawa where the incident occured also said that the gunmen invaded the APC Chieftain’s house with the intent to kidnap him but ended up shooting him when he resisted the kidnap attempt.
Radio Nigeria, reports that the attacks were carried out amidst the ongoing military operation in parts of the state troubled by armed banditry.
