INEC Chairman, Mahmoud Yakubu

 

The Chairman Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Mahmoud Yakubu has said that no election result was cancelled so far in the just Concluded polls across the country.

Addressing the Media on the outcome of the exercise held on Saturday, the INEC Chairman however admitted loss of lives in the elections.

Mahmoud condoled with the families who lost their loved ones.

He reassured that the Commission would not only continue to protect the integrity of the conduct of the elections, but also the sanctity of the ballot.

Reports of the elections on Saturday from Kaduna, Northwest of the country, indicated massive turnout of voters.

However, the exercise in most polling stations was characterized by late arrival of Officials and voting materials

Regardless of these shortcomings, voters were determined to wait to perform the franchise.

Former Vice President, Namadi Sambo who enthusiastically cast his vote along with his wife, commended the peaceful conduct of the exercise.

He urged the people to maintain the cordiality for the benefit of all.

Governor Nasir El-rufa’i who joined a queue like any other Voter,  cast his vote at Ungwar Sarki  at  about 1.20pm expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the election and  the prevailing peaceful atmosphere .

Addressing voters at Kawo LEA Primary school, while on monitoring, State Police Commissioner, Ahmed Abdulrahman and AIG Karma urged the electorate to maintain the Peaceful atmosphere being witnessed.
