Nigeria Police Gombe State Command Northeast of the country has  accused the judiciary of paying less attention to cases of rape brought before the court.

Gombe State recorded 29 rape cases, 5 cases of homosexual, 4 cases of incense rape as well as 4 cases of Act of gross indecency from January to April 2018

Inspector Labon Gwamna, Second in Command Gender unit of the State Police Command,  disclosed this on Wednesday while speaking at the Community Dialogue for Development of Gender Sensitive Early Warning Indicators and Review of Peace Architectures .

It was organized by the Media Network in collaboration with Search for Common Ground , supported by the UN-Women, UNICEF on implementing European Union funded programme in partnership with the Nigeria government on promoting women engagement in peace and security building in northern States held in Gombe

Also speaking, Director Planning, Gombe State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Suleiman Doho noted that most drug addicts are youth and the under aged children.

He also also spoke on the issue of Almajiri children where their ulamas hardly report any one of them that got missing to the appropriate authorities particularly the police.

The UN-Women Media Coordinator, Alhassan Yahya commended the media for their continued reportage on the issues bedeviling the citizenry and urged them not to relent in sensitizing and enlightening the public.
