Gombe (Nigeria) – Youth Political Hotspot of DE Watson Leadership Academy in Gombe, northeast of the country, has urged the Youths and Women in the state to increase their involvement in all political parties.

The group made the call at a press briefing in Gombe, organised by Leadtots and Human Development Services with support from National Endowment for Democracy, USA, after an advocacy visit to all the political parties in the state, on need for increased of Youth and Women participation in politics.

“Improving youth and women involvement in party politics is necessary in strengthening democracy in the country, this is a basic way of ensuring that everyone from every aspect of life had equal opportunity to take part in decision making and leadership.

“Relying primarily on the strength of just aged men as leaders can result in an imbalance of perspectives and ideas. Only inclusiveness of Youth and women in party politics can solve this.

Also speaking on behalf of the group, Purity John, said, the group was formed by the De Watson Leadership Academy funding by National Endowment for Democracy, USA, under the service of Leadtots and Human Development Services, in order to bring students union leaders to share ideas and exchanged good practices.

She added that, “The student union bodies being the hub of political leadership development have great responsibilities in the training, strengthening of politics, with positive and sound ideologies among students union leaders at the stage of their political development.”
