5,000 Internally Displaced Persons, Less Privileged To Benefit Free Medical Outreach ln Gombe, Northern Nigeria

Presidential Committee on North East Initiative, PCNI, is to organize free medical outreach to 5,000 Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, and less privileged in Gombe State, northeast Nigeria.

The Vice chairman PCNI, Tijjani Musa Tumsa, disclosed this in an interview with newsmen shortly after inspecting the venue of the outreach in Gombe.

Tumsa said the outreach would last for one week and about 70 health workers, volunteers and 30 doctors were deployed to carry out the exercise.

He said their target was 5,000 persons, pointing out that what they saw on ground they might surpass the initial targets because of the number of people coming.

The vice chairman also commended people for behaving orderly, adding that they should remain calm to access the free health care.

Also speaking, Dr Samson Egbunu, Coordinator of the outreach, said a team of Doctors from the Pro-Health International were invited by the PCNI to conduct the outreach in collaboration with few from the state specialist Hospital.

He said they conducted a numerous number of eyes, dental and general surgery at the commencement of the programme.
