Gombe (Nigeria) – Gombe State Government in northeast Nigeria has inaugurated the its Internal Revenue Service Board with the swearing in of the members.

The committee was set for enhancement of the internal generate revenue of the state, the Board members are Mohammed Dala, Wazirin Deba, he is to represent Gombe central; Abubakar Alkali, Kaigaman Dukku, to represent Gombe North; and Nathan Jamiel is to represent Gombe South.

Others are representatives of relevant MDAs, from the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Economic Planning, Ministry of Lands and Survey and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Investment. Mohammed Adamu Damji is to remain as executive chairman of GBIRS and chairman of the board.

Also inaugurated are the newly executive Board members which includes, Mohammed Musa Mohammed, Executive Director Operation, Wesley Kusuma Audu, Executive Director Tax Audit, Mijinyawa Sani Labaran, Executive Director Non Tax Revenue,  Aishatu Yakubu, Executive Director finance & Administration, while Jessica David is to serve as Sec/Legal Adviser.

During the inauguration, Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo who challenged the members to work hard to meet the expectation of the state in revenue generation, said, their appointment was based on their track record of achievements and professionalism.

In a related development the governor also received the report and recommendations from the committee set up to preposition and restructure the Gombe State Media Corporation (GMC).

While receiving the report the Governor noted that the current condition of GMC is unacceptable, hence his administration’s resolution to constitute the committee last year with tested persons to inject modern changes and fresh ideas.

The governor who said he will study the recommendations with the view of implementing them said. “Part of his administration Vision is to preposition and improve our information and communication system.”
