Kaduna (Nigeria) – President Muhammad Buhari on Monday apologized to Nigerians over the hardship caused by the fuel scarcity during the Christmas.

In a new year broadcast to the nation, Buhari assured Nigerians that adequate steps  would be taken to avoid a repeat, saying, “it will not happen again”.

The President whose broadcast dwelt  on the nation’s infrastructural deficits, said roads, railways and power are on the front burner of his Administration in 2018.

He said all the major highways across the country’s geopolitical zones would be repaired for which the President gave an intervention matching order to the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency, FERMA .

Modern railway system is also being considered across the length and breadth of the country as well as the light rail system to reduce traffic and bring succour to the citizens..

Buhari said work on the Mambilla hydro electric project was being pursued vigorously in conjunction with a foreign partner ,while other related ones in several parts of the country, are receiving attention for improved power supply.

On politics, President Buhari cautioned Nigerians against mixing religion and ethnicity with politics,” if Nigerians are to live in harmony”.

He re assured the people that government remain determined to ensure the protection of lives and property, warning that severe punishment awaits kidnappers.
