Gombe (Nigeria) — Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), otherwise known as the Shi’ite sect, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari and the Security Agencies, to obey court orders and free the detained leader of the group, Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky and his wife, Malama Zeenat Ibrahim.

Group leader in Potiskum, Yobe State, northeast Nigeria, Ibrahim Lawan, made the call while addressing sect members, shortly after a procession to mark the death of Prophet Muhammad’s (S.A.W) grandson Imam Hussein.

Lawan said, President Buhari and the Security Operatives must abide by the provisions of the constitution which stipulates free association, adding that the Court has also equally given its ruling for his release.

“We call on the Federal Government of Nigeria, (FGN) led by the President Muhammadu Buhari and the Security Agencies to release the leader of Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) Malam Ibrahim El-Zakzaky and others with immediate effect

“The court, an Abuja Judicial Division of the Federal High Court of Nigeria, on Friday the 2nd of December, 2016 , gave an order for the release of the leader of the Shi’a Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky

“El-Zakzaky was arrested by the military on the 14th of December, 2015, after the Nigerian army clashed with a procession group along Zaria, which led to a shooting by the Nigerian security forces”, Lawal said.

The Islamic Movement of Nigeria marked the mourning of the death of Prophet Muhammad’s (S.A.W) grandson Imam Hussein, with a procession on the major streets of Potiskum, Gombe and other cities in the northeast zone, carrying placards with inscription ‘labbayka ya Hussein,  Free Zazzaky’.  They  also chanted slogans ‘labbayka ya Hussein,  Free Zazzaky’.
