The President, Evangelical Church Winning All , Rev. Dr. Job Ayuba says the Easter period offers the world an opportunity to reflect on the great sacrifice of Jesus Christ whose death was for humanity to live eternally.

Jesus Christ, he emphasized, was God’s perfect sacrificial lamb, offered once and for all for the forgiveness of the sins of humanity.
The ECWA President made the assertions as part of  his message to mark this year’s Easter.

The Message
2025 EASTER MESSAGE FROM THE ECWA PRESIDENT, REV. DR. JOB AYUBA BAGAT TO THE ENTIRE ECWA FAMILY AND BEYOND

On behalf of myself and the ECWA Executive, I bring you warm greetings in the precious name of our Saviour and Lord Jesus Christ, amen!

Easter period offers the world an opportunity to reflect on the great sacrifice of Jesus Christ, the Saviour and Lord. He came into this sinful world, died on the cross of cavalry, he was buried, but he resurrected from the dead on the third day.

Born of the virgin Mary, Jesus was God in human form. Indeed, He lived without sin.  Yet, He was unjustly arrested and crucified on the cross of cavalry, shedding his sinless blood for the redemption of our souls.  He was God’s perfect sacrificial lamb, offered once and for all for the forgiveness of the sins of humanity.  For as the apostle Paul declares, “For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).  And “the wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23). By implication, Christ’s death was for humanity to live eternally.

Prophesying about Christ’s death for the sins of the world, Prophet Isaiah said, “Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered Him stricken by God, smitten by Him and afflicted.  But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by His wounds we are healed.  We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way, and the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.” (Isaiah 53:4-6).  Furthermore, the apostle Paul adds, “God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God” (2 Cor. 5:21).

Therefore, anyone who would accept Jesus as Saviour and Lord would have all his sins forgiven as well as have Jesus live in him in person of the Holy Spirit, thus giving eternal life as a free gift from God unto them who believe (Romans 6:23b).

Salvation and eternal life through Christ Jesus is possible because the Easter story did not end with the crucifixion, death, and burial of Jesus.  Jesus rose from the dead on the third day and is alive and reigns forevermore in power and glory in heaven and in the hearts of all those who believe in Him, accepting Him as the Saviour and Lord of their lives.  Therefore, for the believers in Christ, Easter implies a time of thanksgiving to God, for loving humanity so much to have sent His only Son, Jesus Christ to come and die on the cross of cavalry for our sins (John 3:16); a time of celebration of the victory Christ won for humanity over the powers of sin, death and Satan. Paul writes, “The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.  But thanks be to God!  He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”  Yes, Jesus, who is in every believer in the Person of His Holy Spirit, is far greater than Satan who is in this world causing all kinds of chaos.

Matthew saw Christ’s ministry on earth as fulfillment of Isaiah 53:4 prophecy, which was fully and finally accomplished on the cross. Therefore, rather than despair, we should humbly ask God for healing for our bodies, souls and spirits, and for all those afflicted by sicknesses and diseases of all kinds.  Jesus is the answer for all the problems in the world today.

We must therefore reach out to all and sundry and encourage them to humble themselves and seek the Lord Jesus Christ with all our hearts while He may be found, for the salvation of their souls first, and also for healing.  Isaiah 55:6 says, “Seek the Lord while He may be found; call on Him while He is near.”

In the words of the popular hymn, may the Lord our Saviour not pass anyone of us by. Be determined more than ever before, and ask God for grace from this Easter and forward, to live in obedience to our Saviour and Lord Jesus Christ.

Happy Easter to you all!
