The 2024 Annual Meeting of the Biraidu District Development Association in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State, has acknowledged the exemplary leadership and contributions of the paramount ruler, HRH, the Onu Abocho, Ayidu Jonah Okai Idris towards peace, security and infrastructural developments in his domain.
Also commended, were the Chairman of Dekina LGA, John Urah Ikani, Usman Ochidi and Daniel Oné Ejigbo for their developmental strides in the area
The commendations were contained in a 15 point communique issued at the end of the annual meeting held at Abocho, headquarters of the District,
The communique which was signed by the Chairman and Secretary of the Association,
Alh. Seidu Sani and Enejoh Anajah, resolved to ensure that every community owned facility shall be entrusted into capable and sincere individuals of proven integrity irrespective of political affiliations
Monitoring and Evaluation Committee on community public facilities, the Communique said, will be constituted, while any one caught in the vandalization of community property will be made to face the full wrath of the law
Other resolutions adopted, include the readiness of Dekina Local Government Council to handover any project undertaken in any community to the community through the traditional rulers and the members of the community.
The Communique frowned at the incessant exhumation of corpses from the cemetery and described it as inhuman and assured the people that strategies have been put in place to put an end to the menace.
The Communique expressed displeasure over the recent breakdown of the vigilante vehicle recently donated by the state government through the Local Government Council.
It directs youths in the area to work in harmony with the the security agents to ensure all facilities in their areas are well protected.
They should also put their eyes on the watch and report any suspicious individual to the security agents.
While recalibration of vigilante architecture in Abocho was adopted, political and community leaders as well as parents should not interfere in security matters as such interference has been observed to be causing security breaches
The leadership of the association was not only asked to always encourage women participation in the scheme of things, but to also ensure the activities of the association cut across every community in the district
The Communique affirmed plans by the Paul Gowon Haruna, member representing Dekina/Bassa federal constituency in collaboration with relevant stakeholders from Biraidu District of his intention to carry out over #100,000,000 development projects in the District.
The Communique reaffirmed the commitment of Dekina Local Government Council to prioritise the welfare and safety of the people through youth employment, provision of infrastructure and adequate security.
The Communique acknowledged the remarks by HRH, the Onu Abocho, Chief Jonah Okai Idris that the community would continue to adopt initiatives that will drive development to the area and described maintenance culture as key to any development process.
The Royal Father, according to the Communique, warned against politicising security architecture in his domain, charging Biraidu sons and daughters in the diaspora to braise up and contribute their quota to the development of the District.
