Three persons have been reportedly injured on Thursday in Benin when a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) powered vehicle exploded at a filling station in Benin.

It was gathered that the incident happened at the filling station’s gas station located in Aduwawa, on the Benin-Auchi road.

Sources told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the explosion was as a result of substandard conversion kits, including cylinders used in the installation and conversion of the engine of the vehicle.

The sources said the driver, who was the technician that allegedly installed the CNG kits, had driven to the filling station to test the efficacy of the installation when the explosion occurred.

The three casualties were said to be a station cleaner, pump attendant and one other.

“The injured were rushed to a hospital,” a source said.
