Nigerian Nurses Issue 15-Day Ultimatum To Govt. Over Verification

Date:

The National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) has issued a 15-day ultimatum to the Federal Government of Nigeria to address the long-standing demands of Nigerian Nurses.

This decision was made during the NANNM’s National Executive Council meeting in Abuja on 29th August, 2024.

The association is seeking the immediate reopening of Nurses’ verification portal.

The demands by NANNM partly read, “The Nurses and Midwife Council of Nigeria, a parastatal of the Federal Ministry of Health, should reopen the verification portal to enable nurses to explore better opportunities, pursue further studies, and complete necessary tasks.

“Enhanced Nurses’ Salary Structure: Approval and implementation of an improved salary structure for nurses.

“Creation of Department of Nursing: Establishment of a Department of Nursing in the Federal Ministry of Health.

“Gazetting of Unified Scheme of Service: Official gazetting of the Unified Scheme of Service for nurses, approved in 2016.

“Inclusion of Nurses in Policy Making: Nurses should be included in policy-making processes.”

The NANNM urged the Federal Government to address these demands within the 15-day ultimatum to avoid industrial actions and ensure a harmonious working relationship.
