Following the demise of one of the committed and dedicated members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists in Kaduna State, Comrade Jacob Haruna Zango the leadership of the Union in the state has declared a three-day mourning period from tomorrow Monday 19th to Wednesday 21st August,2024 for the repose of the soul of the deceased journalist who passed on in active service.
A statement made available to Journalists in Kaduna and signed by the Council Chairman , Comrade Asmau Yawo Halilu and the Secretary, Comrade Gambo Santos Sanga said the death of Comrade Jacob Haruna Zango was devastating and a huge loss to the Council and the union nationally, considering his invaluable sacrifices for the growth and development of the NUJ at both State and National levels.
The statement which describes late Comrade Jacob Haruna Zango as a quintessential gentleman who stood for the truth, equity, justice and fair play among practicing Journalists, prays for God Almighty to grant him eternal rest in peace and the family, the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
It enjoined Journalists and indeed media practitioners in the State to close ranks and support each other, especially on the areas of human needs, stressing that Late Comrade Jacob Haruna Zango would be greatly missed for his spirit of meakness and humility to all and sundry.
Late Comrade Jacob Haruna Zango passed unto glory last Thursday at the age of fifty six years (56 ) in kafanchan the administrative Headquarters of Jema’a local government area of kaduna state of a brief illness.
Until his death, Late Comrade Jacob Haruna Zango was a news Editor with the Kaduna State Media Corporation (KSMC) Kafanchan Sub-Station.
Late Comrade Jacob Haruna Zango was also a two term Assistant Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Kaduna State Council and married to a wife and four children.
He would be buried this Friday 23rd August at his home town in URUHOBO(ABUYAB) of Zangon-Kataf Local government area of Kaduna state after a Christian Wake keep Service on Thursday at the TRIUMPHANT Baptist Church Maraban-Rido in Chikun local Government area of kaduna State.
