Flooding has cut off the major road linking Jigawa with three neighboring States of Kano, Gombe, and Bauchi.
This followed Monday night’s heavy downpour cutting – off the major highway connecting Birnin Kudu to Malawa, Babaldu and the neighboring States of Gombe and Bauchi
The Public Relations Officer, Jigawa State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC,ASC Badruddeen Tijjani Mahmud disclosed this in a statement in Dutse.
Badarudeen who advised motorists to take alternative routes, described the situation as critical and urged motorists to heed to the advice and take alternative routes to ensure their safety.
He said that NSCDC personnel have been deployed to the area to redirect motorists and maintain order.
He said the flood also affected nearby communities destroying homes and farmlands.
Another report says over 1,200 households of Buji, Gwadayi, and Balangu in Buji and Kafin-Hausa LGAs have been rendered homeless as a result of a devastating flood which ravaged the community
Some of the affected victims who are counting their losses including sizeable farmlands and other belongings, appealed for immediate assistance.
The Executive Secretary Jigawa state Emergency Management Agency, Dr. Haruna Mairiga, when contacted, promised prompt intervention and evacuation of the victims to a highland with necessary assistance.
